Im new to the Lafayette area and i was wondering if anyone could help me with any requests of public hunting areas which waterfowl hunting was allowed and was decent. I would greatly appreciate the responses.
if caught on wma's most tickets are 370 for minor infraction's--go to the DA for that wma and ask for the 70 dollar fine which gives you a yr. to be a good boy without other tickets for that yr. then it goes back to normal situation--

Why not just play by the rules and not get ticketed?
Was wondering what the penalty was for having oversized atv tires on a wma is? On know not over a 1'' lung and no more than 25'' is size. Just wondering what the fine is? Thanks

At Peason Ridge WMA. First ever fall turkey hunt should be interesting. Lottery draw deadline in August. Shotgun only for 100 permits. Should be interesting to see how it turns out.

i looked up pine snake on computer. From what is says....
The deer have been moving down at the Atchafalaya Delta WMA. Not sure if bucks are chasing does yet, as I have not actually seen that, but we have seen deer moving right at first light and right before dark. On my last hunt, at 5:00 pm I see a bush shaking vigorously. Then I see it get pulled down and backwards. Obviously it was deer feeding in the myrtles no more than 20 yards away. It ate on.... I have seen this skinny starved looking guy on my last two trips to three rivers. It seems as if someone dropped him off. He looks like he needs a good home with 3-5 meals a day. I have no room for him. I will offer a $1000 cash reward to the first person to take him in.

Did some scouting for 1st time on Thur 2/11. Saw 3 large bodied deer. Never been in woods like this before. I only hunt South Mississippi (Leaf River WMA), so I'm use to big hills, pine trees, hardwood bottoms, and heavy,heavy dog hunting pressure. I was at T/R this past weekend... went sqirrel hunting sunday morning. After chasing sqirrels through the woods I dropped off the ride into a slough to sneek up on the squirrels without being seen. Hog population has steadily been growing unchecked. It is now a full blown epidemic. The way the current regulations and seasons stand hunting will not begin to alleviate this problem. I have been hunting this area over 30 years and have never had this kind of interference hunting deer. Whether it is from the food competition or just for some reasons a bioligist would know, the problem needs.... Read More

What are the rules regarding firearms for hog hunting from....
We saw several does the last few hunts. If not for a faulty release problem I would have tagged out. A few days ago,I fell and braced myself with my right hand to keep from hitting the mud. Problem was my right hand was wearing my Winn Free Flight release. Needless to say it got the worst of the mud and water. I cleaned it up (I thought) and went on. Didn't think about it again. Tried a bow hunt at Sherburne WMA yesterday afternoon. Most exciting thing I saw was a big turkey that I scared up. Not much fresh sign in the area we hunted. Beautiful afternoon with little breeze. You could hear a pin drop, but nothing was moving except squirrels and armadillos.

just thought i would let a few know that there was a huge 160" monster killed 3 days ago on ben's creek WMA. that's crazy! i never thought there could be deer like that around there. there's ton of huntin clubs around that place and they never kill stuff like that or even close I THINK.. bet they never expected to here about one like that lol

Last night I was able to witness two of the very rarest things that a hunter could possibly be apart of in the state of L n ouisiana! First I was able to harvest a mature buck in Thistlethwaite WMA .Then I met a game warden who went above and beyond his duty to help a fellow hunter. I got in the woods during the rain last week and was able....
We hunted 3 days this week at the Atchafalaya Delta WMA. We saw one deer and 2 hogs, one of which my buddy, Randy shot and killed. Plenty of fresh sign at some locations, but no daytime activity that we could find. We hunted 4 different islands. I'll be back out there again next week to see if we can catch up to them. Stay warm and be safe.
I will be hunting duck hunting the South Farm this weekend and have never hunted there before. I was wondering if anybody has heard of any ducks being killed there in the last few weeks. Also any tips that one could give would be great. Also has anyone heard of any reports coming from the section 120 road? Any help would be great.

I would like to track all my adventures in local WMA's (Pearl River) in Southeast LA on maps provided by LDW&F but there are no cordinates on these maps. Does anyone have an idea how to get these cordinates so they might be transfered to a map? Thanks for your help, gjones

Stalked and shot with the bow. Got about 25 yds from him and smoked him on first shot. He was with another rooster which flew. He was the bigger of the two. Dropped him off at the taxidermist.

Well guys, my bow season so for has been rather slow. I was fortunate enough to take a nice 8 point on Oct 12th but before and after that day, the deer sightings have been few for me. I am hunting at a lot of different locations on both the perimeter islands and the Big Island. Other guys tell me they are seeing deer and I know of 9, 10, 11 and 13 point bucks all killed recently. Well, I stayed home this weekend from the Mississippi hunting camp, however I took a ride to Pearl River WMA to make a Hog/Squirrel/Rabbit hunt. I have not been out there for a year, just waiting for the woods to grow up a bit from Katrina. The woods are still thick, but if your a serious hunter it could be hunted successfully. I plan on making a trip to atchafayala delta wma from Thursday to Sunday. I'm goin to deer and duck hunt. I hunt the wax on a regular basis but never hunted the main delta only scouted it. My question is has anyone ever run from the wax to the main delta? Last weekend I seen a guy run out of the pass and head to the main delta it looked like. Just announced that the deer hunts for Upper Ouachita and D'arbonne National wildlife refuges have been canceled due to high water. Those dates were November 27,28, and 29 and December 5 and 6. Duck hunting will still be allowed.
does anyone know if the water is high on joyce WMA. do i need chest waders or pirouge.

Anybody have any reports about Tunica Hills WMA? Gonna make a trip up there next weekend before the PW season.
I have a question for ya'll. Is there a boat launch down around Burns Point where you can access the Wax Delta with out going down the river? I know there is a launch under the Intracoastal Bridge, but you still have to go down the river. Someone told me there is a launch further down but you have to have a private lease to use it. I usually put in at Calumet.

There was a big beautiful buck killed at the Atchafalaya Delta WMA last Saturday Oct. 24th. It had 13 points and weighed 195 lbs.

Me, Live Bait, and Pop headed back to three rivers wma for the first time since opening weekend in october. I wasn't in the woods 5 minutes and walked up on a group of hogs. As they began to run I took aim at the only one I could see and wack! Pork down! I hunted for 2 1/2 hrs and saw 35-40 hogs and a deer but only one stepped into striking range.
