Hey guys, reminding you Saturday is the tax free day. Head on over to Louisiana Outdoors for all your hunting gear ,license and all u need for the season. they are also having a 3d archery shoot Saturday. See you guys there !!!!! less than a month till bow season!!!
Just curious as to what type of sight do most of you use, pins or pindulum? I use a pindulum since pretty much all shots are from a tree and dont have to worry about yardage.

Question for the guys that know a lot about bows..... I have a X-force SS (a dual cam bow) and I have been hearing a lot of stuff about cam timing and how it can negatively affect your shots if they are not timed right. The question I have is how do you tell if your cams are out of timing; is there a tale tale sign that will let you know when they need to be tuned??? And how often does it.... Read More

Last year I had my spot and my deer all picked out for opening day of bow season. The day before the season I got a pic of a large bear. Thinking there would be better days to walk in the dark I decided to hunt elsewhere. The next time i checked my cams i had about 10 pics of this buck in broad daylight, right under my stand. Won't be long till that time again. Any advice?

It's a computerized 3D popup shoot benefiting the MS chapter of the Wheeling Sportsman, an organization that helps out wheelchair bound sportsmen. Take N. Hey Brad. I know that your shop is a dealer of Ole' Man....
My release is old but I like it and don't want to change it. It also stinks just from sweat, rain, time, etc. I can not seem to get the leather to not stink much less scent-free. After shooting during the heat of August and September it is inevitable but there has to be a way to fix it. I've tried washing it,keeping it in a bag with baking soda for a long time and nothing works. I guess I can.... Read More

First of all, you da' man! A guy that pays attention to....
Has anyone bow hunted out of a Tree Lounge? I was wondering if it was difficult or not to stand up in when a deer is coming in. I've been hearing things about it being the best stand out there, but it just seems like someone would have trouble standig up to make a shot and not being seen by the deer. Any comment are very much appreciated.

I'm looking for some first hand feedback on the Ultra Rest made by Quality Archery Designs. Also, the Hunter model Ultra Rest is $55, and the upper end Pro Model is $135. Is there enough difference between the two to justify buying the upper end model? I am leaning towards the Hunter version. Thanks in advance for any input.

With the right broadhead you can blow through a deer with 60 pounds an make a more accurate shot . You will be able to hold back longer when buck fever sets in an the deer walks behind a tree an stops for an extra 10 seconds to eat an acorn. The moment of truth can take forever sometime .

My dog got a hold of my bow string a while back and she did a number on 3 or 4 small strands, but theres still alot of string left and its gonna hold for a while. Now, Before the smackdown and before I leave, I will get a new string. I'm trying to figure out who makes the LSU bowstring and for the best price.

There will be a NBEF Bow Hunter Education course offered at the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff rifle range Sept 17 and 18 in Houma. It will begin at 630PM - 10PM on the 17th and from 8AM - 2PM on the 18th. This certification course is required to hunt in certain states and on certain federal lands; however, it is not required for Louisiana. Hi, I'm 16 and I just started bowhunting. I was just wondering what is the best way I should draw my bow. I'm right handed pulling 72lbs., I'm currently shooting 3 in. groups of 4 arrows into my block target at 20 yds. Any tips or pointers will be much appreciated. Thanks

I need some help. I'm interested this year in booking a guided bow hunt somewhere in the Midwest. (Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, etc.) I'm not looking to mortgage the house on killing the boone and crocket of a lifetime but wouldn't mind spening a little money for a nice place with descent scenery and the chance to kill a nice deer. OK guys, I am probably not the first to ask, but, what broadhead should I switch to this season - the 2 blade NAP BloodRunner or the Rage 2 blade? i recently just purchased a new bow. i got the bow rigged and paper tuned right away. after all the tuning i noticed my bow was still making a extradinary amount of string vibration. i have all the nessecary vibration dampeners on the bow including a diamond hush kit, string stop, and string silencers but the darn string is vibrating like i dont have anything on it. i checked to make sure.... I doubt timing being off would make a very noticeable....
Ask Drew Brees how to complete a pass. I remember seasons where I had opportunity after opportunity to kill and would fail. There have been seasons that all I could do was hit my mark. I can definitely say the years that I practiced more, I performed much better. I vowed years ago that if I was going to be presented any opportunity to shoot a deer, then I would certainly be prepared. When at all.... Read More

I finally was able to get out to see Bad Ripp at Louisiana outdoors today. I went out and shot the 3d range outback it was alot of fun. Its set up really nice with 3d targets all off of various trails and at varying unknown distances. I forget how many diffrent stations there are but if you shoot both distances it takes about an hour or so to complete the course. It was alot of fun and pretty.... Read More

Guys when do you start shooting your bow? Year round? 2 months before the season? A few days before the season? Just an informal poll. I start in July, to be ready for the Oct. 1st opener. I have also hunted the mid Sept opener, when I am invited to that area, so I want to be sure I am ready if that occurs. It will be interesting to see what our practice habits are in this regard.

I have a question regarding arrow speed. I was reading in the new American Hunter about deer that squat arrows and that a way to combat this is to A) shoot for the bottom of the vitals and B) to shoot a faster arrow. Team Louisiana Outdoors is going to Tennesee in the morning to shoot in the Traditional IBO World Championship. Sounds impressive, but really all you have to do is show up...so, we're showing up. Seeing a picture of a buck like this kinda gets the blood flowing wondering what the future season has in store for you. Lets be reasonable now I know it probally is nothing remotely close to this but it sure would be nice wouldn't it.

From the traffic picking up in my bow shop, I can tell that bow fever is fast approaching. To help it out a bit, I thought I'd post a little clip of the video we're working on. I shoot a compound too, but traditional has become by passion. The video is about traditional shoots, traditional archery and the people that shoot them. What do you think?

Just wanted to let everyone know we're having a 3D shoot on Saturday, 5 June. 20 target outdoor course, $15.00 entry with money going back to the top few places. Registration from 8:00 to 2:00. If we get about ten shooters that want to shoot the pop up targets, we'll be shooting those at noon. We're at exit 5A in Pearl River right off the interstate. www.louisiana-outdoors.com
I am a regular member of the Mathews Forum and I can tell you that all of the Mathews bows are great. One comment that I do see alot is 'I love my new *insert bow name here* but I sure wish I had kept my Switchback XT' This is still one of the smoothest, great shooting bows that Mathews ever made IMHO
