Kayak fished sat am to early afternoon in Lena Lagoon, found redfish back in ponds and school trout feeding around the mouths of bayous and on flats over oysters. Most fish caught on a lil Cleo, a couple under corks on vudu shrimp.
Today went in marsh south of Breton Sound Marina and found some nice trout feeding at mouths of bayous and again over oysters in 5-6 ft of water. Lil Cleo.... Read More

Thinking of heading to Cocodrie the weekend of March 15. Anybody got any tips or advice? It'll be my second kayaking trip inshore, as I'm from North La. I hate to miss a weekend of spawning bass up here, but can't stop thinking about catching a redfish from a kayak. I went this past weekend out of Cypremort in Vermillion Bay and didn't get a bite. Didn't know about the Atchafalaya being too.... Read More

Need help, I'm looking for an article that was written a while back on kayaks. I am looking to purchase a kayak for fishing and am trying to gather any and all info that I can on the pros and cons of different brand Kayaks. Any and all opinions regarding the subject are welcome. Thanks, Tangiman80
I was wondering if anyone has ever put in and fished this area. Or is the surf too bad? I see a few good spots off hwy 82 that you could put in but I never hear anyone talking about it. Would love to give it a try if anyone has any info.

My buddy and I have become addicted to finding reds and trout with flyrods from kayaks. We live in New Orleans and so far we've fished Myrtle Grove and Reggio hoping to find great fishing close to the launch. Thankfully we're young enough (28) to be able to paddle quite far but it still seems like we have to paddle at least a mile or so to get to fishing spots from the.... Read More
I remember a report on this bait a while back and i cant seem to find it. Some people were using mann's waker on reds and really liking it. I found a few of mine and plan on breaking them out come mid march in some ponds for reds. I have never used these and not sure if there is a preferred method on retrieval. I know it will change by the day but never used this style topwater i could be.... Read More
I set out today to target mainly larger specs. This year has not been the year for me for the trout. I like to set my standards high and primarily keep the larger ones. I went to a deep hole I knew about in the marsh for years…and used my fish finder to find exactly where the drop off starts so I could free swim my bait right on it. I sat and waited…and after some time I landed the two twins!.... Read More
Anybody ever fish the area south of the chef menteur hwy between chef menteur and venetian isles. just looking at a map it looks like a good area if there is a place to put in or park on the side the road. Any reports on this area and is it possible to put in a kayak on this road? Its the area by cedar bayou.
Made another trip down to Port Sulphur and did good once again. Today schools of reds were all over the place. Caught 2 bulls and quite a few slots and a few rats. I have easily limited out on reds the last 3 times down there. Everything has been caught on the trusty gold spoon.
Can anyone tell me where to put in anywhere south of chalmette on the east side of the river. I did some bank fishing right near Pointe la hache and I recall it being a decent launch spot. And if you have recommendations, as specific as possible would be appreciated. A map would be great. And not just launch but maybe even spots for reds after launch. I really appreciate any help.
The winter time is the time of the year I’m thankful I have my KC. Past few years I had to sit in a basic sit on top kayak trying to paddle the north wind and low tides on cold days. Now I can throw my good old trolling motor and cover the distance. I knew the fish go deep, so I covered the ground (right around 14 miles) and finally found the spot! The reds were caught site seeing, but the drum.... Read More
