Me and my son took the kayaks out one after noon on the South side of Lake P. under the HWY 11 Bridge, (May 7th), we did OK, was slow and most fish were to small, however I did manage to catch a big Red, it was fun to fight him away from the bridge for about 20 min, my son did get a legal one too but not as big as Dads, LOL. I have a bad back (several back surgeries) and I am not very flexible at all so even getting down on or near the ground to get in and out of the kayak would be an issue for me but I think its something that's doable for me but i'm sure i'll end up wet and muddy doing it.

My buddy and I have become addicted to finding reds and trout with flyrods from kayaks. We live in New Orleans and so far we've fished Myrtle Grove and Reggio hoping to find great fishing close to the launch. Thankfully we're young enough (28) to be able to paddle quite far but it still seems like we have to paddle at least a mile or so to get to fishing spots from the.... Read More

Looking to fish either Lake Pontchartrain (tressels) out of Slidell or the Lake Catherine area this Friday. Any reports on either area or other places that are producing.

I went a little late yesterday morning In the yak to try out my new istabilizer tripod it extends from 14inches to 3ft. It worked well to say i didnt have a mount for it but a flush mount would work miracles. I used my smartphone but theres only so much you can record at once. Is there a one button click to record or voice command to record on gopro it should right its only $299 lol.any help.... Read More

Only had a hour to fish before I felt it wasn't safe to be on the water. Paid off. Lots of misses but a mess of big trout - largest just under 7 pounds.

Im new to the forum, thinking about getting into kayak fishing. I am looking at a Perception Pescador 12, wondering if I could get any feedback on this kayak. Launched in what I believe to be that exact spot this....
Going to gi this coming Saturday first trip in a while. looking to meet up with anyone who knows their way around the marsh or island with a kayak.

Im takin a trip to lake laurier saturday in the yak... Northeast winds from 7am to 1pm the change to eastnortheast... What wind would be best to fish, early NE or ENE, i know south winds are the best just never fished a north wind...

At a kayak demo day yesterday, a few folks took an unexpected swim. Many folks came out to try their hand at paddling, pedaling and stand up boards. Many had never been in any kind of kayak or canoe. The combination of newbies and strong winds made for a wet day for a few.

I want to go on the edge of the gulf to fish for some jacks, bull reds, and monster trout...The marsh will never get old i can fish it everyday, but im ready to catch some real fighters that will put my 40lb braid to the test...where to catch jack crevalle, bull reds and those trophy trout besides grand isle and venice... What baits for the jacks and how far any help.

Grand Isle is your best bet. Big trout on the beaches and....
Thinking about trying some Kayak fishing near Mandeville/ Lacombe area. Any good reports/advice about wear to go and what lures to use.
