It's been 10 years since I've fished out of Bob's Bayou Black. I used to know the area and fished mostly around Bayou Penchant, Turtle Bayou area.. That story in the last issue of LA Sportsman got me thinking about fishing down there again. I can't remember canal names and I was somebody could remind me where the heck is the Bluebird canal in relation to Bob's or Lake Hackberry? I know.... Read More

Between Fourchon and Grand Isle we have been catching limits of tout on roadside lakes. The colder the better. Strong north winds are the best times. Topwater baits that mimic a finger mullet early daybreak and then cork with your choice of plastic. I personally love to fish a plastic swim bait with no cork. If you see a bunch of cars and trucks parked on right side, that is where you should.... Read More
The Partridge group came in from Mobile and caught trout after trout on the Matrix Shad titelined and at the end of the morning they boxed 48. Plenty of action but plenty of small trout, but it was fun catching. ANOTHER GREAT DAY IN THE BLAZER BAY TILL THE NEXT ONE.
Caught a few on a quick bounce trip this afternoon pulling traps north of mid lake. Chrome and blue traps with pink trailer. 2-1/2 colors off the reel at just under 2mph. Got takers on both the traps and trailers Left them biting to avoid the traffic back to Algiers. Saw Capt. Hot Rod servicing a Sea Tow member. It was a nice diversion.
Kenny LaCroix was back again today with Lloyd Michiels. Our last trip only found a few trout and limits of reds, so trout was on the main menu today. We left out of The Reel Inn and upon dropping the power Pole, had the trout coming in every cast. #40 hit the box within 30 minutes then the ole switch turned off!! No problem, we made a quick move and in no time had #75 iced down. We left the.... Read More
Three of us went fishing with a guide out of Hopedale, LA four years ago. Two of us are about to try to recreate our experience in two weeks. Rich wrote this poem that tells the story better than I ever could.
The morning lacked of fish or bite We would persist, cause we were proud We found the spot to warm our spirits Under the sun that broke the clouds
It sure was a pretty day to be out on the water. A good number of folks came out today to visit us and get some fishing in. I‘d say 1/3rd of the boats whom went out caught there limits of trout. The others had close to limits. Anglers said they picked up a lot of throwbacks today in order to get these limits. They even mentioned that this was the most throwbacks they have ever seen down here in.... Read More
The trout are out in full force. Although this time of year can be challenging for some, once you get a grip on the winter pattern you can load the box. That's what Clark King and Eric Duplantis did this morning. Clark has fished Dularge for a number of years but hasn't found great success during the winter. So the plan was to catch a lot of fish and for Clark to gain some knowledge of the.... Read More
Wife and I launched out of Bait Inc. this morning at 0:645. Fished Intracoastal in 20 feet of water. Rucker rigged with live shrimp and Matrix shad Lemon Head. Wife out fished me and caught the larger fish. Limited out at 09:30. Left them biting. 14 1/2 lbs. of filets. With full moon and high barometer, did not think today would be a good day.
I know it's nothing new to see different patterns on fish, this one just caught my attention. The picture didn't do it justice, the specks on this Trout are tiny in comparison. Interesting that the fin displayed closer to normal size specks. I caught this Trout out of Myrtle Grove on Friday.
Had a really good turn out today for the December Manchac tournament considering this nasty weather. Had 10 boats come out today and paid out 2 places, and 2 places big bass. Here are the results: 1st place - 5 fish for 8.88 lbs 2nd place - 5 fish for 8.53 lbs 3rd place - 5 fish for 5.94 lbs 4th place - 5 fish for 5.87 lbs 5th place - 3 fish for 3.65 lbs

Spider rig fishing is arguably the most successful method for putting limit numbers of good-eating and big crappies in the boat. This seemingly simple trolling method for panfish, however, has some important fundamentals that anglers should follow to be most productive.
