Inshore Fishing in Cocodrie / DuLarge in South Central Louisiana
Yuck was exactly what the weather was today. The only thing that makes crappy weather bearable is good fishing. I helped out Capt. Marty Lacoste today while Capt. Chris Venable and Olden Rodrigue helped me out taking care of Daniel Louque's crew. Most of you reading this are saying that we are crazy for fishing today. Maybe!!! Lol But when talking to our customers they wanted to go and as many of you know Capt. Marty and I don't shy away from fishing in tough conditions. One of the first things Mike said this morning was lets see how good you guys are because anyone can catch in great conditions. Nothing like being challenged. We left out of the Reel Inn in cold windy conditions. The fog was rolling off the water like steam. As we pulled up to the first stop and started chunking our Matrix Devin hooked up first but lost the trout at the boat. We put 2 in ice chest and nothing. Marty was on a great bite just down the bayou so I trolled near him only to pick up a couple fish while his crew were slamming them and talking trash to boot. Then something as rare as seeing an albino black man happened, seagulls started diving about 80 yards away on shrimp no bigger than a fingernail. Never seen gulls diving in 20-25mph wind and temps in the low 40s in December deep in the marsh. They usually are hanging out at the Walmart parking lot in those conditions. I trolled over to them and it was game on. The birds didn't stick around but with the Powerpole down the trout stuck with us until 100 hit the ice at 10:30. The fish were holding in 2-4ft of water over oyster reefs. Thanks Capt. Marty for setting up the trip. Thanks Capt. Chris and Olden for showing Daniel Louque's crew a good time.
The fishing is incredible and if you're looking for an Xmas gift give me a call/text and we can hook you up with a gift certificate.
Capt. Travis Miller
