clarity

Believe it or not, water clarity from the north shore to the first hump was around 10 feet.could almost see the bottom I guess.i didn't even have a nibble in that water.the five fish I caught came between the drawbridge and the turn around to the south of that.didnt catch the first fish till the water hit 53 surface temp.missed 6 big fish one of witch would have been personal best.fish caught on lemon head matrix shad.clarity around 3 feet.

MuleChaser, thanks for that info, that was a great response. What time of day was it the water reached that bite temperature?

temp.

Wouldn't have left the launch till 9 but tried to avoid the crowds that never came.would have caught more but was trying to teach the brother in law how to feel the bite for an hour.saw Dumas fishing the west side of the north bound span witch I would have never done due to past experience.when I saw Dumas fishing like that I would have been stupid to do anything else.sorry, bite started around eleven.

Clarity

Thanks Mule, That time line works perfectly for me tomorrow. Will probably start at mid lake and troll the west side of the south bound lane for various reasons. I'll be in a royal blue Formula if you're out tomorrow, look of me of hail ch16, or 504-666-3637. Thanks for the help….Mike

Well

Mule,
I started pulling at 11 at the second hump from the south shore. Water was good. Pulled there, at the middle, at the draw on the north side, at the busted turnaround on the south and the big hump on the south….did not get one take down, quit at about 2:30. Surface conditions were perfect but very little tide. Still an enjoyable few hours in the big boat and got some fresh gas in it to boot

tight

Feel bad now forgetting to say they were tight to the poles.usually when they're on the traps heavy you'll have a bunch of hits on the retrieve right at the boat.

tight

No harm no foul Mule. I don't pound the pilings, my boat is not suited to piling jig fishing, plus I'm a terrible jig fisherman anyway. I was going to troll regardless just to burn some aged fuel and feel the ride of a heavy boat for a change. Come the spring I'll be fishing in earnest.
