Sorry for being absent the last few days. My oldest daughter was in an auto accident and has been in the ICU with a broken collar bone, broken ribs, breathed in water almost drowned, bruised lung and other things. We expect a full recovery. Just wanted to let everyone know what's up!
Seat belt probably saved her life. Probably here looks as well.
Not wanting to preach here but I am going to say it anyway. Wear your seat belt. One argument I have always heard is if you go into water you don't want to be buckled in and drown because you can't get out. That argument is not consistent with what happens in reality.
Reality is you either get thrown from the car and usually crushed by the car or you get bounced all around inside the car and are more broken up and unconscious and not going to wake up for anything anytime soon.
Well Hailey car was upside down in a ditch with the car filling up with water. Her head was underwater. This is what I believe happened. She is strapped in unconscious. When she breathed in water and started to drown it shocked he back awake. She stuggled to get out of her seat the seatbelt was holding her head underwater. She was able to get out of the seatbelt and live to see another day.
People always worry about this exact situation but had she not had the seatbelt on she would have possibly died in the wreck or at best been severely injured, possibly dead or likely pinned under the car in water over her. Even if she had not gone through the windshield she would likely not have gain consciousness and probably would have drowned.
This is the second family member that a seatbelt almost certainly saved their life.
