Boats in Northeast Louisiana

boat trailor title

OK here is the deal kinda an odd situation. I bought a boat and trailer from a guy in Shreveport . He had all the paperwork on the boat . But he couldnt find them for the trailer . Well I get home search the trailer over and no vin anywhere. Its a pretty nice trailer but it also has some homemade features and some that seem to be factory. What the heck do I do to get this thing titled?

LDWF

LDWF has nothing to do with boat trailers. That's DMV and LSP.

Home made trailer

I hope it's as easy as some have indicated in other comments. My experience was not that easy. It took me almost three years to get mine legal. I made numerous trips to the troopers office who would send me to motor vehicles who would send me back to the troopers and so on and so on forever. I could have bought a new trailer with the gas money I spent. I finally was able to get it done and have a 'legal' trailer that I can use but it is NOT an easy process. Receipts and pictures of 'before, during and after' did little to help convince anyone as to how the trailer came to life. I even had a notarized statement that held no water.

Personally, I think that if the legislature would pass a law making this a little easier that more people would register their trailers which would bring more revenue into state coffers. I know a lot of people that want to be legal but the process is so difficult they just run without papers, tags, etc.

TRAILER TITLE

Go to DMV and get form stating it is homemade. I just went thru this. It problably came from Texas where they dont have to have it stamped and titled just license so tell them this. Get form notarized and bring to state tropper office or get one (some carry stuff in car with them). They didnt even check lights or anything!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Caney

Where do you live to get it done this easy? Around Houma it was a nightmare to have it done. I promise I could have bought a ton of gas for what I spent running all over. It was like a chinese fire drill for me.

not easy

Please have a link to your own words in this article RE: the boat and trailer you have tried to dump onto someone without paperwork. What a misleading sale you have. Shame on you. Oh, my nose is your business. Do as you do, not as you say, huh?

boat trailer title

As info. You msut have all receipts for material and must also have a receipt for the axel or axels. Without that the LSP will not stamp the trailer. Just had one done a few months ago.

Boat and trailer

Greenjeans, I realize it may be difficult but you need to try and comprehend that I clearly stated there is NO paperwork for either in my ad. The other trailer that I referenced was a completely different set up but, again, one must have the capability to comprehend the difference between the two. And for your insistence that I sell items for $1 because it shows up in the title section you need to read the entire ad and all of mine clearly state a desired dollar amount. Every ad I place defaults to $1 regardless of the amount I place in it so take that beef up with LAS.
