August Fishing

Where is the best fishing in August? Trying to plan a little family reunion around my dad's birthday. Grand Isle?, Cocodrie?, Calcasieu?

Thanks in advance

hmmm

just me personally but august is always brutally hot and miserable with not much wind so i would suggest you plan a trip that is in the open areas far away from solid land like the isolated islands or barrier islands or offshore.

if you going on your own then get there early (daybreak) with lots of water and sun screen and i dont think you need to worry about the fishing, its always good just about anywhere so its hard to go wrong with any choice you make.

Grand Isle

Personally, I would choose Grand Isle if I were you. There are plenty of fish on the beaches there in August and you can get a camp on the beach big enough for your entire family reunion. Walk out onto the beach just before daylight and the heat is not too bad. Plus you can fish the bridge at night to beat the heat.

camp

a camp on grand isle is a great idea and you can take your time by hanging at camp in the hottest part of the day and fish mornings and evenings.

the camps pricing is very reasonable if you shop around and dont need to stay at or near the launches.

if you like this idea then booking early now will save you a lot of money with most places because later on bookings will fill up and prices will go up too.
