There are not many options for turkeys in southeastern louisiana. Bens Creek was the best turkey habitat around but was recently lost. Bogue Chitto and Pearl River used to be good before Katrina but the dense thickets have made both very poor habitat for turkeys since Katrina. I've never been to Sandy Hollow but public land turkey hunting is tough just because of the nature of everyone being able to hear quarry and multiple people calling or trying to work same bird. Sherburne may be your best bet because of its greater size and ability to possibly get away from other hunters.
The fellas I work with say Sandy Hollow has some turkeys.
Myself I don't know. I have only been once and that was years ago. Did jump some Quail there. Never went back.
