dog tresspassers

There is public land directly south of our property which is where they let the dogs go. Then the dogs run straight through our property and the hunters sit and wait for their dogs or deer to run out of our property. and as you can see in the pic that guy walked about 100 yards into our property which is where the camera was..

and im not sure if thats a brand or its shaved but i would like to find out if those letters and numbers mean something.

i mean as for as i know dogs cant read and louisiana laws state that you have the right to retrieve your dog on some1 else property as long as you do not have a long gun in your position at the time

The law does not allow dogs to be retrieved on private property without the property owners consent, gun or no gun. Dogs can be retrieved by boat on the bank without the dog owner leaving the boat. It doesn't matter wether the dog can read, or the hunter for that matter. Private property does not have to marked or posted for trespassing to occur. It is the hunter's responsibility to know where he is. A picture of the dog was included hoping that its markings might identify the owner.

retrieving dogs

Any hunter has a right to retrieve his dog or dogs in the state of louisiana as long as they are not hunting. The land owner cannot pursue any trespassing charges if a hunter is retrieving his dog. In this pics it looks as tho he is just getting his dog because he is by himself and has no gun.

There is nothing a londowner can do about dogs except erect a fence. There are provisions in the law regarding the dog owner. Refer to Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:63 subsection F.:

F. The following persons may enter or remain upon immovable property of another, unless specifically forbidden to do so by the owner or other person with authority, either orally or in writing:

6) The owner of a domestic animal while in the sole process of merely retrieving his domestic animal from immovable property and not having a firearm or other weapon on his person.

Signs are an allowed method of forbidding access. Refer to Statute 14:63.3:

§63.3. Entry on or remaining in places or on land after being forbidden

A. No person shall without authority go into or upon or remain in or upon or attempt to go into or upon or remain in or upon any structure, watercraft, or any other movable, or immovable property, which belongs to another, including public buildings and structures, ferries, and bridges, or any part, portion, or area thereof, after having been forbidden to do so, either orally or in writing, including by means of any sign hereinafter described, by any owner, lessee, or custodian of the property or by any other authorized person. For the purposes of this Section, the above mentioned sign means a sign or signs posted on or in the structure, watercraft, or any other movable, or immovable property, including public buildings and structures, ferries and bridges, or part, portion or area thereof, at a place or places where such sign or signs may be reasonably expected to be seen.

I know the property in the photo above is posted with signs around the entire property.

No Respect

I know what you going through, I hunt the basin also. Dog hunters have 'NO' respect for other people's property and a few of the comments here show just that. I have plenty of pictures of dog hunters on my property which is clearly marked, and have even caught them on my property. Good luck on finding them. By the way, that is clearly a rifle with scope resting on that right shoulder.

Respect others

I will say that I believe that every type of hunter should have a set season. If you go down the road of one type of hunter should be banned then you fall into the trap of one day it may come to your preference of hunting next on the list. That being said, we all have set rules and if you break them, then you should pay the price. It upsets you that the hunter is on your land and I understand. Maybe someone will figure out who they are so you can approach them and come to a understanding. If not then their is always legal action.

Trespasser

If this is your property, and this person is unwelcomed,It is apparent that HE is trespassing.

I am an avid deer hunter and have been hunting for 40 plus years. Please dont group all dog hunters with the ones that break the law. I have hunted all over in many places and different States. I have been at camps and lodges where people have set around fires and bragged about killing deer from posted property, over corn (where illegal) out of trucks, before shooting hours, after hours, running over with big trucks,I can go on and on. I have spent my time hunting about 60 percent dog and 40 percent still hunting.

Although the hunters in your club may never break the law, there are some that do. Thus, having been said, there are people that do not observe the law no matter if it is dog hunting, still hunting, or even speeding down the highway to get there.

Again, this guy is apparently trespassing. But please dont accuse all dog hunters of the same as well as any still hunter that breaks the law.

Believe me, we all need to get along and agree to disagree on things or the anti,s will devide and conquer.

thers a new law you don't have to post land anymore in Louisiana & even if he's trying to get his dog he is trespassing you need to find the brand name on the dog & club name & have all them arrested for tesspassing I just went through the same situation & the judge ruled in my favor

dog hunting

well sounds like you need to do some dog-hunting yourself. i know if see dogs on my property they are sent to meet their maker, no questions asked. i love dogs as pets, not as pests. if they mess with my deer they die.

gun vs dogs?

firearms are tools that we use. they cannot, by themselves, get up and walk to wherever and such Dogs are living beings. they can severely F*@# up my deer hunting. so they die.
