causeway logs

Took the kids to the causeway for for a quick speckled trout run before the wind and rain gets here and surely wasn't disappointed. My kids had trout hitting the bottom of the boat and i thought they were bricks. 16-23 1/2 inch fish. We ended the day with 30 trout but they were all logs! All our fish were caught on the new green hornet matrix shad and the gold tiger high life swimmer. Conditions are fixing to get bad and alot of trout will leave with it but not as many as u think. Till next time get u some!

Nice Job
Looks like fun. A buddy and I went out to the Causeway Saturday morning. We couldnt see in front of our face it was so foggy but we decided to give it a go anyway. I have never fished the Causeway but I had my boat at my house so we decided to give it a try. (live in Covington)

We didnt catch anything...were you fishing plastic under cork or without? Just trying to get some ideas of how to best fish the Causeway.

Thanks and nice catch!

3/8 ounce jig heads bounced on the bottom. Jigging lately most of the fish are on the pilings so hit the piling with the jig and let it go straight down. Also were trolling at 1.5mph with the same as I was jigging having about equal success. I start letting line out till I'm about 2 pilings back and go from there. Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. I was using jigs but wasn't on the bottom. Saw a trout swimming around the pilings so I did stay around the piling but only about 8ft deep. Hopefully I can get back out this weekend. Thanks again

GET U SUM
Great job Capt putting the kids on the fish. Nothing better than spending time with your kids on the water and catching fish. I know they had the time of their lives. BTW, Congrats on getting your license Capt. Looking forward to you working with the A Team.

Fishing with the Kids!
Alright Capt. Scott, I won't mess with you about completing your paperwork for the U.S.C.G. since you brought your kids fishing and it was Sunday, nice catch friend. Let's fish this week as planned, Rucker said he's in and with this front I know you know where and what I'm thinking. 'GET U SUM!'

Fish kill
Saw the holy one today buying tackle at academy while on the phone with Scott planning the upcoming Delacroix kill, and I think Rucker is in the planned mix as well. Looks like the 'Death Squad' is headed for Delacroix soon! Bad time to be a trout

Academy Blues
I support our locally owned tackle shops, Professional Sport Shop, Puglia's, Chaz, etc. however I received a gift card to Academy. As usual the shelves were bare, it took me over an hour to find anything I would buy there, I really dislike that place as it pertains to fishing tackle or lack thereof.

As for the Delacroix trio, when we fish Scott Walker and John Rucker on the same trip on my boat, I simply play captain, deckhand, and cold beverage retriever. But in my defense I will put us on the Trout for sure!
