The ICW & Seabrook bridge that is being referred too...is it just west of the lakefront airport? I'm dropping a friend off at the airport Monday & thinking about dragging my boat down there and going play around in the area...if weather permits! Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Looking at google's Satellite map...the launch looks destroyed
The floodgate project at Seabrook is complete and the Industrial Canal is open for traffic. However, note that it is legally closed to fishing and has been for many years. Maybe they are not enforcing it, but if it starts to get a lot of activity they just might.
Once the Bayou Bienvenue locks are closed (beginning December 17 and continuing for at least three months), the closest launches to get to the area of Seabrook, Hot Water Canal, Michoud Slip,Boh Brs, etc will be at the Seabrook Public launch at the lake or at Chef Pass.
'The new Bievenue locks in the MRGO are closing or the old bievenue locks? I think the old locks are the violet canal locks?'
To be clear. The locks that are closing are the original locks on Bayou Bienvenue where it meets the MRGO. That means that for at least three months, you will not be able to launch at Gulf Outlet, Bait Inc. or the old Eddie's launch and go out of Bayou Bienvenue and through the Bienvenue locks. You alternative is that if you launch there, you will have to run the Dyke canal all the way to Violet, go through those locks and run the MRGO all the way back up if you want to fish the New Wall area around Bienvenue, etc.
The locks at Violet will remain open (except for regular high-tide closures) and the new locks on the Intracoastal at the wall will remain open.
The closest alternative will be to launch at Seabrook or the Chef.
Where is that launch that ya'll were at? Is that the old launch under the Seabrook bridge? I thought that launch was history. Or is that Seabrook Harbor marina? Nice Pigs, cool vid.
