Hunting in Northeast Louisiana

Stolen

My son and 2 other friends this year were able to secure a small hunting lease and were excited to have a place of our own. We worked getting our trails cut, stands up, feeders up, cameras out and a place for us to camp. When we checked the camera at my sons spot, there were no pictures on it except two when he set it up and 1 when he went to check it. Thinking it was broken, we swapped cameras and put it up in another location.
The following week it had 92 pictures on it and the one wqe replaced it with had only him and my grandson setting the new one up. Both times all the feed was gone. The next weekend, his camera and feeder were gone. Luckily the thief didn't know about the other camera that was up, but when we contacted the sheriffs office, they were more concerned if the value was over $500. I guess honor among sportsman is a thing of the past too!

Honor

Yea not everyone is as courteous and nice as most of us are. I say hunt the thief. Don't shoot him but figure out where he is and ambush him with the police. Had it done before. Our posted PRIVATE property is connected to a large public lake by canals so people though they could sneak in and out with our animals. NOPE we know some deputys and set them up. Had our good neighbor call us when they came, then showed up with 4 LEO's. Caught them walking out of the woods with a nice 8pt. One was sent back to jail for parole violations and the other 2 were charged with trespassing and other violations when the GW showed up. Needless to say we no longer have any problems with anyone especially our not so good neighbors. Show'em you mean business and they'll straighten up.

thieves??

the problem is these days, a vast part of this society wants other people to work and support their needs, so they dont have to work! obama calls it share the wealth!! so many instead of working and supporting themselves, steals from the people that do work and make money!!! at one time people had pride in themselves, not any more!!! i guess stealing is easier than working as long as they dont get caught!!! if they do get caught, what happens to them nothing much, so they go steal again and again and again!!!!!! will only get worst!! sure hope u catch them!!!

thieves

$500 and above is a felony (arrestable offense ). Most places will just cite (ticket) someone w/ misdemeanor theft of under $500.

your not the only one

i had a trail camera stolen in washington parish several years back. put it out on a good deer trail went back 2 weeks later after a morning hunt to check it and not only was my camera gone but there was a guy still up in a tree stand about 60 yards away from where my camera was! coincidence?? i think not! good thing i had a good fiend of mine with me that talked me out of causing some trouble with that guy. then 2 yrs ago i was hunting a tract of kisatchie national forest and i shot a deer that morning and i left my stand there on the tree so i could send a buddy of mine there to hunt it that evening. i left the spot at 11am and when my buddy got back to the spot that evening between 230 and 3pm my stand was gone! goes to show you can trust anyone sportsman or not!!!
