I'm sorry I didn't have a scale on the boat to weigh every fish to the ounce. And maybe the weights are off, but seriously man we caught a limit of nice trout in a half an hour in the cold & rain. Go be a Debbie downer somewhere else.

FIrst off congrats on the fish. I was out there this morning in the rain also wasnt too bad. good day for fishing in chest waders. stayed dry. As for as the size not 2- to 4 pounds. as for as catching them in 30 minutes that would be true as there was several hundred seagulls diving in falgout canal(not the norm for sure) and easy to catch fish for sure although i went to lake but did fish them for a bit on way back in.
as far as sizes

ive meaasured some fish before and weighed them to ahve an idea what is what as i release a lot of the fish i catch.

16 inch fish-usually 1 lb 6 oz to 1 lb 8oz
17 inch fish-usually 1 lb 10 oz to 1 lb 12 0z
18 inch fish-usually 2 lb to 2 lb 4 oz
19 inch fish usually 2 lb 4 to 2 lb10 oz
20 inch fish usually 2-lb 10 oz to 3 lb
21 inch fish usually 2 lb 12 oz to 3 lb 6 oz
22 inch fish usually 3 lb 6 to near 4 lb
23 inch usually 4 ib up to 4 lb 12 oz
24 inch 4 lb 8 oz to 5 plus
25 inch dont castch enough of those to measure

obciously as the fish get bigger the size varies a lot more. also in some areas fish seem to always be short and chunky --dularge -lake boudreacx ive notice and fish seam to be little longer in slimmer in gemeral in pointau chene and grand isle. obvioulsly dont fish some of the other areas but sure the same takes place in those areas also. course a fish full of eggs will also weigh in higher per inch that during other parts of year although fish are really fat at this time of year as they have has abundant food during sept and october

I never imagined that this post would cause such an uproar. I started fishing for trout 2 years ago and have gone out and come back many times empty handed. I was proud that me and my buddy braved the elements and did pretty well. All I hoped to do was to show off a d brag a little, but at the same time give the exact location and bait used in hopes of maybe helping someone else catch some. Never thought people would be so critical. At the end of the day, we had a great time and caught some good fish. So as far as I'm concerned that's all that matters. Thanks to all the guys for the positive reinforcement, y'all may not realize, but there are a lot of guys like me that use your advice and appreciate the help.

Welcome to the sportsman. Remember, never be proud of what you caught or killed, because some fat guy sitting behind a desk at work has caught or killed bigger. Thats what the sportsman is all about.

Again nice fish. I tink i spoke to you at launch this morning. See your from Greenwell Springs and was talking to someone from Baton Rouge thinking was you. Just to clear up my comments were in know way knocking your post . Only thing I said was that they were not all 2 to 4 pounds but that they were good fish, that 20 incher would be close to 3 pounds. As for as catching a limit in 30 minutes easily done have done many times as has many others on this site. To GI when they are biting every cast and its good keeper fish its easy to catch 25 in half an hour and with a double rig in much less time. And as i said before there was a herd of trout in falgout canal itself this morning the rain etc has the trout chasing small shrimp like crazy. and to your comment that a 2 pound trout is at least 20 inches that is way off as a 2 pound trout is in the 17-18 inch range. a 20 inch trout is much nearer to 3 pounds and at least 2 and a half. I spend most of my trout fishing days throwing topwater , jerkbaits, and bigger plastics for bigger trout so am really familiar with the sizes in inches compared to pounds. Again great catch and keep on fishing and ignore GI as he was right on maybe 1 of 10 things he said

oh yea forgot nice catch and info unlike some who only use the forum for advertising and not to help others with tips. i fished dularge for the first time last week, hauled the big kenner over there, thursday caught only but 5 fish, fished decade, raccourci, and mechant. found lots of little ones in mechant, under the birds, did not see many people catching that day dont know if it was an off day or my inexperience with the area. I usually always catch fish in golden meadow as i know the area, born and raised, but wanted to change the scenery and try something different.

By the way, I am the kayak fisherman who caught the 26 inch Spackled Trout. I feel somehow cheated & ripped off that lightweights like Kemo Sabe and Lord Bud attacked me and I didn't even get a Dishonorable Mention from the King Of Criticism, GI/Drew. I'm going to pout & sulk now...

Every time I post a report I try to be helpful and mention what I used to catch my fish. If I had a bad day on the water I also try to 'splain where I went wrong so nobody else makes the same mistakes I did.

Actually, giving a specific spot matters little. Each trip is different. It depends on tide, water conditions, and time of year. I know some spots that only produce in narrow date windows because fish transition through them. Fishing those spots the other 50 weeks of the year is a waste of time.

Giving spots is a great strategy for those not fishing conditions and just chasing reports. Its like a fake handoff.

GI...I'm just enjoying the show :) Lots of silliness here in this thread. Someone worried about giving away a specific spot, and I'm saying don't sweat it. In fact, giving away a spot is a great strategy. They go left, I go right and have it to myself. Even better is fishing the popular spots in the afternoon after everyone has left.

well the OP never said that was a 48 quart ice chest so if thats a 72 quart ice chest how big are those fish then huh?

size is relative and until you see the fish in person and know the size of the ice chest then NOBODY can say for sure how accurate the OP guesstimate of the fish sizes are. i believe even he did mention he might be off with his estimate a little yet some ''haters'' have to put down others as a favorite passtime.

GI specks and reds aka drew b and a few other names he uses is the same guy and he is the same type of wanna be know it all troll you see on most forums. they just want to be the center of attention no matter what so they seek some form of self worth by trying to show they know more or are somehow better then others.

Honestly who cares if the fish is 2lbs or 200lbs the guy wanted to share a story with other sportsman because it's enjoyable to hear. For those of you pointing out the flaws in his story you are blunt, boring, and ignorant human beings. I mean who wants to actually hear a story told EXACTLY how it happened. This is why it's a story... you are allowed to exagerate a little bit to improve the quality of the story telling.

This poor fella was all about showing his spirit fingers about catching a nice mess of fish, and then 119 comments later we have a fishing, boxing, hot/not wife, does ole boy have a nice camp or not, etc. Well at least I have something to read while I'm laying a hot steamer at work. Man, good read here lol. Definitely passes the time at work. I'm not here to pick sides or anything like that, but just some observations I made: I see the fish measured is around 21'-22', this would most likely put it closer to 3 lbs. than 2 if not a little over 3. So by saying that these trout are no 2-4 lbs. trout is a bit nit picky. While you may be factually correct GI, the difference between these trout and 2-4 lbs. trout is unsubstantial. You can defend yourself all you'd like, but that was low. Also, while that most likley is a 48 quart chest, you can see no such numbers on the box. He's measuring on a seperate scale. And as far as the hottest wife quarrel goes ... sorry but I win that hands down. You children keep it up, you're entertaining. And BTW to the OP: Really nice catch you have there buddy, good job!

Since I unknowingly started this huge pissing contest, do I get a bid into whatever fishing contest? I'm not married with a hot wife, but my gf is pretty hot. I always put my 4-6 lb trout on the bottom of the box and cover them up with 12inchers so no one can see them.....LOL

That picture I just posted earlier was from yesterday's trip. They were a lot smaller, but I got to take some great guys out that are a lot better fisherman than myself. They taught me a lot and we had a great time.

Another comparison. My wife with a 4.75 lb trout (Campo's scale) out by the Navy station, weighed on the Campo's scale, length around 23.5 inches. We thought she had a redfish because it pulled drag and stayed down, then at the side of the boat that big old yellow mouth came up shaking. I netted it quickly before I had time to think about it, then we both looked at it somewhat shocked.

I've caught quite a few 3lbers, but can't honestly say a 4lber (in Louisiana). My wife has me beat! Trout above 4 lbs are actually a specialty and need to be targeted for consistent catching. I have caught a 6lber, but in Texas...it was a beast.

Ty beast but I always look at it like this. There is always someone else out there than can out fish me. But I can say that I can hold my own. Just look at the fish John Rucker posted. My personal biggest is 7.7lbs. But with big fish John Rucker is hard to beat for sure. Dr.spot if only I could find a woman that could catch a trout that size she would be wearing a nice big rock on her finger!!! Great fish!

Rucker,last week you said you had a 5 or 6 lber underneath the other trout in byu b(LOL).My personal best is two 8.5 lbers from Black Bay.Had one mounted but lost it in Katrina.The other one came out terrible ,looked like a plastic fake model,gave it to boat dealership.
We caught this one on the inside last week(23 inch).No big trout in DELACROIX ...LOL Catching big trout takes some skill but it is still 99% LUCK.Maybe tomorrow i will catch a box of 2-4lbers myself..LOL LOL..LOL...

Attack you??? Lightweight?? You've got to be joking! I didn't do any attacking. I'm not going to come on here getting into a pissing match. I've been around Lake Ps big trout long. a 26in trout would be 6.5lbs.

For the first time ever I will disagree with you. I personally don't think catching trophy trout is 99% luck. I'd say it's more 70/30. You need to put yourself in position to catch the big ones. Location, Conditions, Baits, Skill, Patience all are huge factors in my opinion.
Sure, the average joe can go out and get lucky and catch a 7 pound trout. When you start catching multiple 7+ pound fish your doing something more than the average angler. You may think I am wrong but that's my opinion. Obviously you have a TON more experience, skill, and knowledge than me but in my 4 years of hardcore fishing and catching 6 trophy trout in that timeframe, it is what I have noticed.

I would love to one day be able to pick your brain. There is so much fishing knowledge in that head that I want to learn!

RUCKER,Yea i know that,that is why i said i cover mine up with 12 inchers...This whole report needs to go in the can....everybody getting their panties all twisted up.. This is the part of this site i can't stand ,all of this petty back and forth bickering over nothing worth while.

This was in the middle of a trolling trip week or so ago in lake P. Didn't weigh or measure em. Thats the 96qt ( its a 90 something qt) in my boat. Any guesses on weight of these fish? Notice how they go from one side almost all the way to the other?

I want the tournament to go on too but we can't seem to agree on the rules. No way in heck could I allow anyone on this site to give money to Peledet or any bonded escrow he endorses. He is not to be trusted.

I originally agreed to host, and I stand by this. I just made the call to skip hunting and to head down tomorrow night to Dulac. I'll get Toutie at Four Points to hold the money. Heaviest five trout stringer plus redfish under 27' gets their money back. The remainder will go to CCA, not CASA, since this is a fish related event.
