I have a pop up blind i try to get my boat behine tall grass or and isle sames to work grate.

I hunt out of a floater with the dog siiting on the runner very visible, and have ducks lite in the decoys.

I hunted with a huge lab for years that was almost white, sitting outside the blind, no box or anything, and NEVER had a problem with ducks flaring because of her. this was in the ricefields. so no.

try to cover the middle of blind with cdas r some kind of cover if the ducks can see inside your boat you just a soon right them a post card cuz the wont commit

Hunted with a buddy in the biloxi marsh last year. We flared birds all morning. Realized it had to be the dog when I had to retrieve something from my boat and he stood out like a sore thumb. Draped a camo shirt on him and ducks started decoying much better.

If using fast grass, darkening it up with brown and black paint with some killer weed works great. And even though you have boat blind still cut enough brush as if you don't have a popup.
Top cover is the best cover. Hands down.....and facepaint

Personally I hate pop-up, takes up room. When you can cut brush and work 100% better

Or spend the time and use wire grass as your blind material. Takes some work, but well worth it. See my post history. I've got pics of mine. Had teal land 8 feet from the boat

I hunt out of a boat blind often and the dog will flare ducks. Although he is steady, he turns his head and looks up at ducks. I put my dog on a hunt deck in between the motor and stern with a piece of fast grass over him now. Sometimes even bring him in the blind with me.
