Nice box of fish.
First off I haven't tried the juniors but the 'regular' works great.
Now JLS I have to bust you. Once again you ask a good question, get an answer and follow that up with a stupid comment. Yea the will say balanced, guaranteed and lifetime warranty...... Seriously? Go to puglias or Gus's and buy a pack to try. They are reasonably priced and work great. Book a trip with these guys, fish the swimmers and learn from the Pros. Don't buy knock offs. These are very durable as opposed to others on the market.
Jls don't go chasing spots and bait. Stick with what works for u. The guides don't have any secret baits. They just know where the fish are from there years of experience. I now fish with one bait, gulps, and when I'm not catching it isn't because of the bait, it's because I just haven't located the fish.
^5 Sam..........No i know they have more experience then me or you and they sometimes have hard days too, So for i've fund 2 different places i've caught trout. On two different ways of fishin one w/ double rig w/poppin corn&other w/1/4-3/8 jighead fishin the Bottum So no I'm not gona change baits i just wnder why mine came to top the water,i have 6:1 ratio reels so i figure i can bounce it along the Bottum too, Can't wait till winds had died down to go again Sometimes we need to make trip Sam cya&thanks............joe
Hey Capt. Tommy,
Now that's a great box of trout! I love seeing everyone's pics of trout. I'm just a little jealous. I've been fishing mostly under a cork and with a carolina rig this year. I would like to but the Blue Tiger Swimmer Jr, but I'm not sure where to get it. Is that something that I can get at Academy? I would rather stay from the cheaper 'look-a-likes' and get a better bait that works. I've been fishing mostly around Hopedale in Lake Robin and back in the lagoons (Stump, Petes). Thanks for the tip. If I don't get on some trout soon, I'm gonna have to book a trip so I can see how it's really done!
Hey Tigerdave1,
Couldn't help but chuckle at your comment to jls. I saw you gave info on where to buy the swimmer baits (puglias, Gus's). Is there anywhere in the BR area that sells those baits. If not, where are the places you mentioned? I made a trip to Lake Robin this past weekend and brought my daughter. She landed her first BIG red and had a blast! The trout bite was slow (for us anyway) and we brought home 16 trout, 3 reds and 3 black drum. I finally got all of my gear back and will be standing guard over it. I am bringing two of my nephews this next weekend. Trying to go somewhere we can stay over night and make a 2-day trip. That drive about kills me. My nephew has been fighting multiple myeloma (and winning) and has never been salt-water fishing. There are no motels around Hopedale. I was thinking of going towards Golden Meadow since I know that area. I'll keep you posted and hopefully post some good pics. Tight lines to ya!
Red16chaser, I have always stuck with the smaller retailers. It's just the way I am. Maybe one day they will be in the big box stores but not right now. You can get them at Puglia's, Chag's, Gus's, Barataria Bait, Professional, Songy's and J&C right now. Also on line at Catchdat.com
coming soon to baton rouge. If you want them in a store near you just have them contact me.
Thanks. I will try Catchdat.com since I don't get down that way very often. I am much like you and would much rather support local business. I got so mad the other day....EVERYTHING at Bass Pro is made in China! I may come across as 'narrow-minded' but, I'll shop somewhere else to keep my money in the hands of Americans who own their own businesses. I will spend more money if that's what it takes...just can't stomach supporting China! What are some colors that I should start with on the swimmers? I may have to buy a few with each payday.
Capt. - does superior in Baton Rouge carry them? Thought I got som cocodrie cocahos there. Also thanks for the advice on the wind tamer! I'll be hitting you up when I'm ready to restring them all. Can you get bulk spools?
Red- we need to make a trip! Drifted stump last week and put a good box together. I'll be out Wednesday and Thursday and a couple next week. Both places are on veterans. If you can't find them let me know. I can grab you some. I usually go to Baton Rouge twice a week.
I'm don't know if Superior has them, good people there, I do business there. Look in the classifieds here under fishing, they there. Catchdat is in B.R. And can get them to your door fast and free shipping or Terry can probably meet up and hand them to you. Catchdat is also your source for Fins Wind Tamer.

Tigerdave1,
If you can pick some up, I can meet you in BR. I am hard to track down sometimes because my job keeps me going between 3 different hospitals. I can make time to meet you. If I could get 3-4 of them. I definitely want to try the Blue Tiger and Purple Haze. I will be down there Sat and Sun coming up. I drive a silver GMC truck and pull a 20 ft Xpress bay boat- green and gulf sand color. You can't hardly miss me...I almost always wear shorts and my artificial legs look like the bionic man, lol. I want to put my nephews on some trout really bad. Do you know of any lodges, camps, motels that are close to Hopedale? I have a hard time making the trip back-to-back from BR.
Who is the person that created these baits? They obviously work well in the waters we fish here in south Louisiana. I can't count how many reports I have read where fishermen have had success using these baits. I love to support our locals that use their skills and talents to create something that benefits all fishermen/sportsmen. Buy American made as much as possible and really buy Louisiana made as well.
Capt E & Capt Tommy,
I would gladly sacrifice my day on the water to help test any new baits. I'm good at trying different presentations, changing my retrieve, making the bait work for me. Let me know if you need some help in testing those baits, lol. I plan on placing my order soon. I definitely need to get some before Saturday when my 2 nephews come in from Dallas. Nothing would make me happier than to see them reeling in some head-shakers and filling up the box. How quick could I get some? I saw you said there was someone here in BR that could hook me up.
Capt. E and Capt Tommy,
I found Terry in BR and got the baits ordered! I'm super pumped now. I'm thinking about booking a trip on either Sat. or Sun. just to really make sure Eric (my nephew with cancer) gets the trip of a life time. It would be a real treat to go out with the pro's and load up a box of fish. These are some big, Texas-sized men with big appetites, so I need a meat trip! Capt.Tommy, I would like to get with you if you have any openings this coming weekend. If not, maybe you can point me in the right direction. Thanks so much guys.
Hey Red- sorry been didn't see your post yesterday and fished today. Let me know if you still need some swimmers. I'm going to Gus's tomorrow to get some Jrs if he has them and I have plenty regulars. I can meet you tomorrow. Lets plan a trip! Any weekday I can make work. Rough day today.... 2 friends with me....Neither ever fished before.... Caught fish but I've never baited more hooks and casted for others so much in my life!
Thanks Catchdat! I'll post some pics after Capt. Chris Venable with Topline Fishing Charters puts me and the Texas crew within casting distance of the specks Saturday. I'm looking forward to sitting back and fishing without having to man the trolling motor. Can't wait to try the new Swimmer Jr's! I plan on using them this weekend!
No problem, we do need to hook up and fish together or follow each other sometime soon. I'm still working my way through my family members and friends that have become real close and my 'new best friends' since I bought my boat. Terry hooked me up from catchdat.com. Great, friendly service with a quick and satisfactory response. Got my shipment today. I couldn't decide which ones, so I got some of each!
You're a good man taking the greenies out. I'm not a very patient teacher...yet. I'm headed out with Capt Chris Venable- Topline Fishing Charters Saturday to make sure my nephews get a good tasta of LA. I'll post some pics and hopefully have some great stories to tell. Going either to Delacroix or Hopedale on Sunday.Hope to catch uo to you.
