Capt. Bob's Leeville Report
Hello Again Cyber Anglers,
Fish are definitely in and on as evidenced by the last two weeks of fishing Leeville. My guest and I worked the main canals like the West Canal and Bayou Lafourche. When the wind blew behind the fronts we ducked into the South Texaco Field and hit Redfish Point 1 & 2 and the cuts in D’s canal. I had groups from Oregon and Missouri that booked several days along with the usual BR area guests. The groups from out of state wanted to catch the biggest Redfish of their life so we also spent one of their three days Bull Red fishing in the Cut Threw Canal. All in all their trips were awesome at they all got to catch big Specks and Redfish along with Bulls and Flounder. The toughest trip was my last trip on Tuesday with Jay and his wife Debbie. The wind turned ugly and cold but they still caught 15 nice Specks and 4 Flounder. The previous blast last week did not even affect the bite as the water temp was still up. Even though the Full Moon was out we caught in the South Texaco Field in the morning working an outgoing tide and caught at the rocks at Margo’s Pt. as the tide poured in later in the day. Terry’s had large minnows and every Trout, Redfish and Flounder was caught Carolina rigged with 1/16th to 1/8th pegged shock leader 12-18 inches long. Live White Trout and whole Crab produced the Bulls.
The fall bite has been so strong that the fish cleaning station at Boudreaux’s Waterfront Motel has been packed. Last Friday and Saturday we filmed as the weather was perfect cool in the morning and warming in the afternoon. We got on some really big Specks the South Texaco Field and Saturday we fished Bayou Lafourche, catching our biggest Trout of the hitch, a gorged pig that weighed 7 ½ lbs.
For more details check out Between the Banks fishing Show on LCN Television or betweenthebanks.com. The episode we shot in the south Texaco Field where we hit the lunker Trout should be on by the weekend. We also shot a bunch of stills. Here are a few. Charter info and last minute help available on the BTB fishing line at 504.458.9451. In the meantime good luck fishing…Capt. Bob
