Good box of Trout/Reds
Trout Slam then Sight Casting Redfish!!
We had to cover some water early today in search of the trout but every stop we made produced a handful of keeper trout , we started out by drifting reefs in Mud Lake and Lake Mechant and we where steady filling up the cooler but I decided to go check some deep marsh winter holes and that's where we found the Big trout stacked up as where catching beautiful trout up 21 inches today.
When we finished up with our trout fishing it was time to do what Ramsey had been looking forward to all day, shallow water sight casting Redfish !! When we arrived at the honey hole Ramsey couldnt believe it ,we went less than 20 yards and we had already sight casted 5 Redfish. It was unbelievable Redfishing today with the shallow water, we easily saw over 30 Redfish tailing and at one point Ramsey got of the boat and actuslly crawled through the marsh to get to some Redfish that where to shallow to get to with the boat.
Our trout where caught on Matrix Shad, the all new HLT Swimmers Jr and the Shiny Hiney. The HLT swimmers really put a hurt on the Redfish today !!!

I still have 3 more weeks in the Motherland, I hope December is just as good cause I'll be trying to catch up!
Terry better not be shipping out all those new High Life Swimmers, I didn't even get to try them yet! What color were you using? He better have me some in the boat! And some of those Endura Shrimp, I only got to use one of them before he ran out last time!

Big Eye aka 'mini me'
Capt Elton, Terry will have the new Swimmer Jr's in stock tomorrow. I was supposed to get there today but didn't make it through New Orleans in time. Still have Chag's, and Puglia's to get to. Also Gus's in Slidell. Barataria Bait and Tackle has them already and Professional has the new Big Eye aka 'mini me' in stock.
I can't comment enough on incredible todays fishing was. I called Captain Chris and asked him if he could show me around the winter fishing spots in the Mechant/ sister Lake area. Well He well exceeded my expectations. It was just Capt and I today fishing and we must have bumped around upwards of 10 spots with all producing great numbers of fish. We fished deep in the marsh later on during the day and found Big 20 inch trout stacked up. If we would have hit that spot at day break we would have caught more trout than we wanted around that size and bigger. I am not a big trout fisherman which is pretty rare for around here. We left trout biting two at a time several times in order to show me new spots and search for redfish. If anyone wants to experience sightfishing redfish Louisiana style give Capt Chris a call. Literally schools of redfish with backs out of the water cruising through ponds and canals coming within 5 feet of the boat. I was amazed. Talk about get your blood pumping. Ive been up since 4 am this morning, fished all day, drove back to baton rouge, cleaned fish, and done homework and its almost 11 o clock now.... I am nowhere near close to tired because the sight of those redfish is still going crazy through my head. Craziest thing ive ever experienced and ive been sightfishing redfish for 4 years. A huge thanks for everything today Capt i had a great time catching fish and a bunch of laughs today. I learned nearly 40 years of information in just one morning today. Give this guy a call you guys wont regret it.
P.S. saw a retarded amount of ducks out there today. Gunna be a hell of an opening weekend
Yep Capt Josh and Capt E yall know exactly how it works when getting ready for a trip, you come up with a fool proof plan in your mind and 90% of the time that plan goes out the window when you leave the dock,lol.
Ramsey - I know the Redfishing was the highlight of the day for you but you had a pretty big smile when you where reeling in those Fat trout.Also First time I ever had anyone jump out the boat to chase down a Redfish, thats dedication!!!
