26 inch-8lb8oz Speck - Lake Pontchy
Catch-All
....and just to show it wasn't a fluke.....21 inch Speck. Same spot.
Thyhibbs8 - Yep, got 'em off the south end of the I-10 twin spans.
Livelined a croaker under a cork and deadsticked the pole in the rear rodholder. I had a 3/0 jhook thru the nose and a #6 treble hook as a stinger in case it got short bit.
The 21 incher hit a #8 treble hook dropshot rig tightlined on the bottom. Live skrimpses.
I also caught a 24 incher on the dropshot rig over at the south end of the Trestles the day before.
Tyhibbs8 - south end of the TwinSpans. There are so many legal size puppy drum there we've begun calling that place the Animal Shelter - you can go there and adopt a few puppies ;)
Launch at the south end of Hwy 11 Bridge - there is a nice beach (Triple Beach) 100 yards to the southwest of the bridge; great parking too.
I'm 'Catch-All' on BCKFC.org
Unfortunately, I dont know of any bait shops that sell live croakers. At least not this time of year.
I've always found the best way to catch them is small live shrimp on a #10 treble hook, dropshot rig tightlined on the bottom. Nibble, nibble, nibble...YOINK!
Immediately take 'em off the hook and slap 'em on your 'live croaker rig'. Let Capt Deadstick do the rest.
