Yes there is a hand full of us out there that tag fish for wlf its a program they have to see how long fish survive & travel so please call it in thanks

I hate to be the one to burst your bubble but you didn't win a new bay boat. I have caught two tagged black drum in Lake P, one at gas wells in Lacombe and the other on the causeway. I was ecstatic when I caught that first one and saw REWARD on it. Basically, you leave a message on phone number and a bioligist will return your call in a few days. They'll want to know the location where fish was caught and size and condition of the fish. They will then send you a report that tells you when and where the fish was released. Both of my drum were released about a week earlier at or near where I caught them. Also you will be mailed your reward......a CCA fishing towel, not a 22' bay boat. Oh well,its still cool to catch a tagged fish. Congratulations!

Me and my buddy was fishing a few years back and caught a tag red fish in Golden Meadow. Reward was the same, a report on the fish and a decal. He didn't get a towel.

I knew I hadn't won a boat, I was just curious as to who the tag might've been from. Thanks for the info guys.

The guys from CCA called me this morning. The fish was tagged from the rigolets saltwater series tourney in July. They said he was 22' when he was released. I should receive a prize package in the mail in a couple days. It was a really cool experience even if I didn't win a new bay boat.

i think its random as to what you get but its pretty basic stuff they give out to kids at events and such like a hat or fish towel or fish glove kinda thing, the guy who got the sticker must have caught them when they ran outta gifts lol.

my rule of thumb is if the fish is tagged i record the tag number and release it if the tag is clean meaning its not that old, if the tag is worn and weathered then i'll keep the fish since the tag has recorded the fishes activities for a while.

i hate to see a fish someone took the time to tag recaught and kept a short time later because it defeats the research that trying to be gained.

I also tag fish for the CCA after catching my limit i catch and tag the rest for research purposes----information that helps all of us----thanks guys--Help us help you!!
