Capt. Bob's Leeville Report
Hello Again Cyber Anglers,
Life could not get any better in Leeville as the last two weeks the fish have really been on. The White Trout bite is unmerciful. They are in any deep water you find, the deeper the bigger. They are hitting everything you throw at them with live minnows and plastic shrimp leading the way. Even market shrimp on a jig head will produce however will draw more catfish. A typical catch the last two weeks for us has yielded around 60 Whites and 20 nice Specks. Hot Spot has been the Power Line Canals and the East Canal at the entrances to North and South Lake. When the wind would lay, we would escape the gnats and work the Deep Bayou area. On the warmer calm days I have taken my guests to Northwest Island Structures and caught a few nice Specks. Tide is falling in the morning and incoming in the afternoon, influenced by the wind of the day. Tide range has been over a foot since new moon. Most of the Trout have come on Carolina rigged minnows, pegged on a 1/8 oz shock leader in the current.
This past week I had Marc and Samie from Statton Island New York, a husband and wife team of big game anglers in search of Bull Redfish. Armed with whole Crab and White Trout they battled the Bulls, topping the scale at 49 pounds. The best action came in the afternoon when the tide was switching to incoming. I will try to shoot some pic’s since I have a strong signal. If not I’ll post them if I ever return home. Maybe Cajun Kent at Boudreaux’s will get Y-fi……you think?
