Thanks for the response. Most of my friends do not hunt, so it has been a bit of a problem finding people to take me. I am thinking a guide service will at least give me the experience of seeing how everything works and not be such a newbie to hunting. Anyone know any guides that would cater to my situation. I live in Metairie, so Shell Beach, Reggio, Venice areas are what I was thinking.
Thanks
I am more then willing to help with any questions you have and can give you enough advice to get going. I hunt the Shell Beach and Venice areas regularly so I could help you out with a few good spots to try as well. I'd also be willing to take you on a hunt sometime, but probably wouldnt be able too until mid-season due to other trips already planned.
Hit me up anytime thru our facebook page with any questions you have and We can also talk about making a hunt.

I would start off with guides but try different enviornments. For say marsh hunting as opposed to flooded timber or rice fields. All its gonna take is that one hunt you will remember forever and will have you hooked. I think most duck hunters will agree its about the whole experience the scounting, the anticipation, as well as the success of your efforts. Just be respectful and soak up as much information as you can. Another possibity could be joining a hunting club. Also there are some really good videos out there you can watch on youtube or buy. Most of these videos are entertaining and very informative as well. Good luck man I hope this all works out for you i was lucky enough for my dad to bring me duck hunting around the age of 7 or 8 and I havent been able to get enough of it ever since.

Sent you an email. Give a shout and I'll take you out locally. Been doing it for over 40 years and got my start from other established duck hunters who cared enough to help a young guy! Ray rbellant@eventuretec.com
The best thing would be to find someone that can bring you a few times to learn. Worst thing you could do is go out by yourself and get discouraged. Now a guide MIGHT help you learn but its hard to find one that will take the time to show you the ropes. You can probably find someone on here that is willing to bring you along. Just be respectful and take in any tips and techniques they are willing to show you. Good luck
