Since there aren't many post going up, just a mental note since hunting season is around the corner. I am not saying this as a land owner or leasee. Please lets all respect the hunters and stay out of any ponds with blinds during duck season, as the faith of our fishing spots depend on it unfortunatly. here is a scary thought, and some info some of us may not know, that i would like to share. every canal and pond in golden meadow and leeville, is privately leased from oil companys. and the oil companys advise each leesee to kick people out. That just goes to show that the majority of the people leesing property in this area are good people and do not inforce it, as most canals are open to fishing. A good example of this is the canals near the launch in golden meadow suddenly became a pay to fish couple years back, then it faded away as the lessee droped the lease, it all depends on who has the lease, and beleive me all property is leased out there, just call the oil companys and see if you do not beleive. it just didnt become private, it always was. I have been fishing in other areas with canals blocked off by gates, is this legal? yes only in the great state of louisiana. Now there are some canals state owned, but very few. Here is a useful website link you can use to determine what is private and what is state claimed.
http://www.doa.louisiana.gov/slo/disclaimer.htm By know means was this post meant to take sides of the fisherman nor the hunter, just to say thanks to all the good guys out there willing to let us have access to canals they pay for, so the least we could do is give them some space during the short hunting season. Its just scary to think that every canal in the marsh could be gated tomorow if that person decided.
Thank you sir, and well stated
