Boiled the crabs today, Sauce piquante tomorrow and then gumbo prob Wednesday...Only in Louisiana!!

Look like you made a round through the seafood market .. I don't know how to guess age on a turtle , only how to eat them . It's been a while since I've seen a nice turtle like that come out of there . Congrats !

Did y'all catch any fish besides the bass ? Just wondering , I haven't fished the river much since the storm .

I took a ton of pictures because I figured it was a catch of a lifetime. As for JLS I'll tell you good places to drop some jugs if you tell me where your honey hole is for stripers on false river.

Great pic! I caught a 63 lb snapper in a pond about 35 yrs ago...cooked him down slow and had piquante, fried turtle, and a fantastic grawfish and turtle gumbo! It's refreshing to see the kids involved. Looks like they were having a blast!! Thanks for sharing the pics.

From what i was always told by the older cajuns in my fam, they grow about 5-6Lbs their first 3years or so and about 1 lb a year after that *in the wild*. If that turtle wieghs 60lbs your looking at around 50-55 years, give or take.
