Inshore Fishing in Leeville / Golden Meadow in Southeast Louisiana

Catfish lake or Leeville???

I usually fish leeville and I fish little lake, parts of bayou blue, deep bayou, and the south track field.

I know that the fish migrate north in the fall, I was wondering if anyone knew how far? Do they still linger in leeville or would I do better in catfish lake?

I have fished catfish lake before a few times but never this time of year, and I never did great. I caught a few red and drum but rarely a speck. What area should I focus on to get more action?

I appreciate any advise, I am fairly new to the forum and I'm also just began exploring these areas within the last 6-8 months and I haven't been as often as I would like.
Thank you all in advance

hmmmm

i think they are so close its not enough difference between the locations to mean much.

you might notice when fish are still on the outside before moving to the inside there are times the trout stack up outside the main bayous and canals because they arent ready to move inside yet but once they do decide move farther inland and into those areas, there are still more then enough fish that will stay there on the outer edges of the inland marsh and they dont go farther inland.

i dont see a time where i would think leeville wont hold much fish or it isnt worth trying but cfl on the other hand can be slow when waiting for them to move in so during the transition period of them moving inland then leeville has a slight edge on my opinion of which area to expect to produce more fish.

often you will hear it said you wait for the second cold front in october before you go looking inland for concentrations of trout

Thanks

You said they are so close that is may not matter... My dad had also ways told me to fish from October through December, but he always fished laffite does the fall migration have a big affect on laffite? Is the fishing in leeville really any better this time of year?

Leeville vs lafitte

Leeville area holds fish year round. IMHO the speck fishing is better in the winter closer to leeville proper.
lafitte has freshwater diversion coming into it most of the year ,so when the diversion is running slower the water is saltier hence the trout will / may move in.

Headed that way this weekend to try also.I fish about three times a year and that is my question also.Where to try this time of the year?Everytime we go its different weather and winds, tide range. So it is kinda a roll the dice and see what takes place.I might try closer in this time.Bayou blue and the broken marsh.I have and freind that is going with me,He has never been saltwater fishing before so this will be fun for him.

catfish lake

The canals around the lake are claimed as private but not the lake itself.

no that was bay gasoline its between leeville and golden meadow, it is leased by picciola construction in cut off. you can fish the canals around catfish lake right now i know for sure a few years ago someone had leased the canals from apache and was charging $500 to fish the canals. he kept it a couple years and let it go so it went back to normal.

Run of Catfish Lake

No one owns Catfish Lake are will ever be able to lease it. It has never been leased out. I WOULD SAY THE STATE OWNS IT

Gasoline

Got it; Never fished there but heard stories of Rosco! Looks like a natural body of water to me and should be public. But it is La.!
