I've sold a lot of guns by consignment and this is pretty much standard from what I understand. What I know is that once a gun store takes your gun in he has to log it in his FFL inventory. If you decide to get your own gun out of consignment then you have to fill out the background check and transfer info to be called in, you can't just go in and take your gun. Any shop I've ever used has never charged anything besides 10% of selling price on guns sold, but if gun doesn't sell and you have to get it out most charge a 25-40$ transfer fee. Hope this helps.
Loupgarou- He did take the gun and we did the federal form and all of that, buthe specifically said that he would not charge me if I sold the gun, or if I came to get the gun since I would be spending money having a custom gune built with him. It's not that the 10% fee bother me if HE would have sold it, but he didn't and now his story changed. I plan on going there this week to discuss it with him in detail, and hopefully resolve it nicely, I would still like to have my custom gun built by him, but not if this is how he does business.
Shadrig- I would like to hold off naming names until it is resolved one way or another. I'm hoping that when he sees me he will remember our agreement, its hard to go and speak with him though cuz his business hours suck.
One of the very first places I worked right out of school had a large sign hanging over the dooor in the warehouse office that said:
If it ain't written down, it ain't never happened!
I still stick by that rule today. It's a shame that he won't honor the agreement, but without it in writing, it's going to be hard to prove. I also agree with the others that I would take my business elsewhere if he refuses to honor the deal y'all made.
i would go somewhere else and get my custom gun built!! be careful on what deal he makes u on the custom gun!!! it could change when u pick it up!!!
