There may be more than 1 little lake? I always referered to Little Lake as the lake on the east side of Bayou Lafourche that I accessed launching in Cloverly Farms. I always refered to Bayou Blue as the bayou on the west side of Bayou Lafourche that runs near Basson's. Is there possibly a 'Little Lake' on the west side of Bayou Lafourche?
Thought that 2 little lake names was the case. I will have to imagine that he is refering to the lake on the west side, since Bayou Blue is on the west side. Man I wish I could answer. I know both sides of Bayou Lafourch really good, however I don't know the names of the places nor how to describe how to get somewhere. I will look on google earth and see if I can give you a good route to get there.
Easiest way to get to Little Lake on the west side is to launch at Boudreaux Motel in Leeville and take the West Canal, only if you rent a room there now as I understand it,it's a private launch for only guest. You can also launch at Bobby Linds and take Bayou around to the West Canal. You can make the really long run from Golden Meadow to get there also. You can make it from Larose if you fell like a long boat ride.I've done that already.
the little lake on the west side is just not practicle to go by boat from cfl so its not really an alternative spot to motor to if the fish arent biting in cfl area.
you can do it if you really really want but its a whole lot of gas and a long long ride just to get there before you even consider once your there where will you head to to look to fish.
its easier and cheaper to just drive down to bobby lynn's marina (look for the red roof camp) on the left side of the road then drive under and around the bridge. if you were at cfl and wanted to go there i'd tell you put the boat on the trailer and drive there and relaunch, its cheaper even adding in the launch price and maybe faster too.
fish the cuts of the canal leading to little lake as well as the opening at the mouth, its all good fishing depending on tides. if you go straight accross little lake there is a camp with a set of rocks near it, its all washed out but it used to be a narow cut that funneled huge amount of water so it was about 30ft deep there, hence the name deep bayou. on google maps there are two dots there, the one on the right is the camp and the one on the left is whats left of the rock jetty there and looking south nearby is a small oil platform that sometimes holds trout and a few reds.
between the banks has done several shows fishing the islands around deep bayou so watch some of his shows for more tips.
cant do it, theres a road and solid land in the way.
you have to go down to leville and launch in the canal to the left of hwy 1 then go left by the leeville bridge to cross into open marsh where you can make your way back north to little lake.
its not too far to go in a small boat but it is a little distance you need to travel so in a flatboat with limited gas it might be a bit much to go that far.
use google earth or bing to see the map showing the area.
