heated mine but still had to beat it to get it out. beeeee careful you can ruin the bearing and seal on the crankcase, i know happened on one of my godevils. best thing if its that bad is to take a small grinder with a 1/16 cutting disc and split the universal, and buy a new one. that being said i did some work on a friends godevil surfacedrive and replaced his shaft, and noticed the new universal they use already has a split in it for easy install and removal, but has a bolt that tightens the split after installment, making it easy if you ever have to pull it again for some reason. i would check with go devil for one of these if i still had my godevil.
I pulled a couple over the years... spray it with Penetrant and let it soak it may have contact rust between the shaft and the coupling.... also there may be a half moon key in there if it isnt splined so you may have to get it just right to slide the coupling off.... hope that helps
