im not suggesting anyone do it im just passing on the information that floored me about the price AND the fact that after paying that much they would screw you over given the chance if you couldnt continue using the same truck for some reason. if they were reasonable then they would make arrangements to allow replacing a sticker you already paid for.
one of my friends goes there about 6 or 7 times a year max and HE PAID THEM!!! i told him he was stupid as hell and i'd never pay that even if i launched 25 times a year.
as often as he goes hes paying somewhere between $60-$65 for every launch. for that price i better have a naked supermodel escorting me to and from the launch and detailing my truck for me while im fishing.
my other friend goes there about 12-15 times a year and i told him he was crazy as well ($400 @ 15 launches = $26 for each launch)
Good info Keakar. These land owner must be nuts. $400.00 to used a boat launch to an area that most of the great fishing spots are gated off. Our tax dollars went to protect that land with our levee system. Our tax dollars paid for that launch and the upkeep to the parking lot. Our tax dollars paid for that new bridge crossing their drainage canal to drain their cane fields. The money used to fix the levee to protect their private property could have been used on other levee projects in the parish. Some one is not telling the truth, either the land owner or the parish council that they could not come up with an agreement on this land use. Now if you want to fish Little Lake or the Loop area it cost $400.00. I don't think so.
I had actually called backed in august to put my name down and when she called and told me 400 i kinda laughed.
if is was 100% private gated area with a nice launch that doesn't flood 4 feet deep then I might bite, but its not.
you can take a 25 minute boat ride and get there just the same. Plus you can avoid the road, dust, and launch.
That $400 is like paying Hunting Dues thats what it amounts too, we have a lease like that you have hunting&fishing rights to it, So if they did it like Duck Hunting&Fishing Lease then maybe it be worth it to some,If they put $$$$$ in the place b4 trying to get $400 out you it might be worth it,
...the blue Handicap hanger works for the State (if and when they check them)...and they are user friendly...as far as the launch price it's called the 'One-Way Money Flow Design'...the camouflage villians may be the 'liability insurance' in the middle of two nemeses ???...cheers
P/S...don't forget the debate tonight it should be a good one...
P/S Update: Cork...Ryan was right that they turned their backs on the Embassy...it's in 10/12/12 Times-Picayune
Pres. debate ought to be good; the moderator is friends with the Irishman (O'Bami)! Naked supermodel is not something I want on a fishing trip; too much distraction and probably not good at waxing and don't have much 'meat on the bone'! Blue handicap tags; must be a black market for them. I've seen some very healthy people with a 'bounce in their step' with them. I once checked on a yearly fee for a launch down at Port Sulphur; the guy had two prices, one for the locals and one for me!! Good luck.
You see it is all about control, Now the land owener has control of the launch, so now it is $400.00 to launch next it will be , if you want to fish on Clovelly farms or skulley property you will have to pay for that to just like they did down the bayou on Tidewater canel and the old Louisiana Land property in Golden Meadow on the east side of Bayou Lafourche, you can pass but don't put your line in the water if you did pay to fish on that property. Is all about control to keep the riff raft out.
Becoming a sad place to live.
it would be a long ride around with my flatboat but if i planned to fish that area regularly the cost of the launch makes it cheaper for me to buy a NEW bigger boat that could make the trip with ease.
there has to be some reason they dont want people there or the price would be somewhat within a resonable amout, at $400 they have to know how rediculous that price is so maybe they are entertaining ideas of ways to keep the area and the fishing there all to themselves and profit off of it.
who knows, maybe they will start and run a charter service or a ready to go boat rental operation?
im too cheap to pay to go on charter boats but at those launch prices it is cheaper to go on a charter then to accept the $400 launch prices.
The parish should pull the bridges out and sell them if they cannot use them anywhere else and build the levee up near the sugarcane shed and blow the one in the back near the launch sky high!! Thats my thoughts on the whole situation. They are just making more money on the parish dollars. Why should my money protect something I cant use? I can use the clovely rd up till the shed so thats where the levee should be built.
Hey keaker thats a lil to pricy for me just to launch maybe 2 times a year, I know they mad at the parish but $400 is unheard of. alot of taxpayers money of this area went in to leevying around there sugar cane feilds, or it would just be more marsh. check out a satillite map and see, they could have been left out like some people in other parishes.
