10/5 report from a redfishing trip with great friends. Departed from THE REEL IN lodge and headed deep into the lakes and bayous in search of Redfish and Black drum. Well it didn't take long as our first stop produced 4-5 black drum ranging from 12-18lbs. We decided to make a move and look for a few redfish and after 2 stops we had the big reds biting our offering of cracked crab on bottom every cast. I have never seen 2 children have so much fun reeling in the big brutes. All 4 of them were pulling in Reds and Black drum every cast for over an hour. This was the family's first trip all together and won't be soon forgotten.
We never fished for trout but I noticed a large amount of birds working the lakes and bays and with this cold front it will only get better for trout fishing.
The best fishing of the year is always in October, November and December so book your trip now before all of the weekend dates are gone.
The REEL IN Lodge now has single room rentals for $200 per night, sleeps 4-6 people.
