Where abouts? I've caught some small ones in West Timbalier before

We did not keep it because I couldn't I.D. it. it was 14' fought very hard.

Caught in the mouth of Felix Lake in Dulac in about 2 1/2' of water.

I catch them all the time under the bridge in Fourchon. They all run between six and ten inches.

You`ll know a Cubera when you see one! Their teeth stick out like Draculas dentures when their mouth is closed - big ugly and mean looking.

Gray Snappers AKA: Mangrove Snappers, are scape goats of the snapper world - people call them several things, but a mangrove snapper is almost always gray with stripes, or all gray, some to most have the black eye stripe.

yep mangrove. very pretty fish and good fighters. i caught one with a bait rig on the jetties in East pass in Destin.

What you have there is a mutton snapper

If truly a Mutton snapper there would have been a black-ish dot near the upper rear of the fish just below the dorsal fin. Not clear from the photo for 100% confirmation.
