if you can find an old wood window ballest they work great. they weigh about 3 to 5 lbs & are a small tube of solid steel. i spray painted them to keep them from rusting.

You can make an inexpensive anchor from an old dumbell. Also. if you are not fishing too deep of water, make a 'Cajun Anchor' from a long wooden stick or piece of PVC pipe. You can insert and glue a length of wooden dowel into the PVC for strength and cut the end on an angle to make a point so it goes in easier (the dowel also keeps mud from filling up in the pipe.)

You don't need much of an anchor and you can buy folding or mushroom type anchors for $15 or less.

Haha and I was just working on a house that had one on each side. Would you beable to find those old things around anymore? That does sound like a easy anchor and not much to toat around.

Probably the best place to find one is at one of those places that salvage/sell old house supplies. There are several in the New Orleanbs area.

You talking about pushing the pvc pipe into the mud then roping it right, cuz I tryed using a 8ft bamboo stick and roping all it did was go to a slant and push off. Ive seen people use thosr pvc for push poles in the yak.

set u up an anchor trolley then go to lowes and get a mop handle. stick it in the mud threw ya trolley . it will keep you still . also use the trolley to keep ya boat in the position you want

Glue a 'T' at the top and you can tie off through the T so it won't slip off. Use at least 3/4 inch PVC.

The anchor trolley is also a good idea. Google 'kayak anchor trolley' for some ideas and videos.

I took a 5 foot piece of PVC and capped the ends then drilled a hole towards one end of it and tied a rope to it. And I put some weight inside it. Maybe 5oz or so. About a 5 foot piece of rope and then tied it to my yak. Works great and holds you in place

Im going for the dumbell real simple and i didnt have to go anywhere and spend a penny 5LB dumbell should work I already had a thin dock rope so im good to go.
