Thanks FFMe. Is the alum. frame still rigid? Stainless bolts through the Alum. frame may cause it to wear and cause it to 'wobble' when running?

Thanks 'beast' for the information. Looks like that's what I'm going with. Checked out the display at Cabela's and liked it. The shaft has a lifetime warranty. They'll send you a new one. You have to change it yourself or pay to have it done.

Ihave had one for about 3 years now and NEVER had any problems. Its worth the money. Ive got mine in rubber rings and a welded on braket on a alweld boat. I love it

problem with cover internal plastics breaking on mine. might be my boat vibrating too much but never had trouble with others.

Minn Kota says that they now have a new stronger composite for the head on the 2012 Edge. They've probably seen the problem that you have. Thanks for sharing.

Bought one from bass pro, used it 3 times then 5th gear wouldn't work right- it would bog down and go slower than1 st gear. Brought it back and got another one. That one did the same thing. Still haven't had it checked out at a trolling motor shop.

I have a 45 H (hand) Edge on a 15' Alum boat. I can run it all day on a 27 class deep cycle battery. It has been a good motor but only one complaint. I use an extender on the handle and you have to be careful. If you push it on too hard, it disconnects the u-joint inside the head and its a pain in the #@%$* to put it back. It is more trolling motor than I need but I rather it be too much than not enough. I wish it came in a shorter shaft for the hand model but it works for me.
