From my experience's with shooting a deer at a stand.. Deer have came out 5-10 minutes after I shot,and acted like nothing had ever happened.

My expirence, it depends on hunting pressure in your area

I have had deer feeding near me when shots rang out on the neighbors land and the deer didn't even acknowledge that a shot had been heard. Then a few minutes later from more than twice as far away a dog barked and the deer looked in that direction before continuing to browse.

I have seen deer run off at a shot in a field that killed one of them stop continue to eat 70 yards away from the dying deer. That is only likely to happen in fields of at least two acres and not very often.

Penny is right! In my area of Livingston Parish, when I kill a deer off my stand and it doesn't matter with gun or bow, that spot is done! Now I can move 50 yards in any direction of my last stand site and kill again... I'm quiet on deer recovery, I don't stink the place up or leave blood and guts around. These are just 'special ops' deer around my house lol. It's weird as hell but thats just the way it's been since I was lil. On my place in Morganza, the deer will stand there and laugh while you shoot there friend then kick and hook him while he's down. Pressure in your area makes the difference, in my opinion.

I've shot a deer on the field with others that were present and if they drop in their tracks the others will be startled by the shot, but will then continue to feed. If the hit deer kicks, flips or bolts they will too, but in some cases come back a little while later (less one).
