Definitely lots of sharks out there. We must have gone through 40 hooks on Friday and Saturday.

We launched out of Cypress Cove Saturday as well and headed out of South Pass. We had the same problem with the sharks. We fished SP52, SP49, MC194, and a couple rigs in East Bay before heading in... Sharks everywhere

What do you think the wave heights were on Saturday out there? They predicted 1 foot or less and I know that was way off.

They were easily 2-4s + occasional 5s Friday overnight. On Saturday, it laid down a bit (not much) and all day the weather forecast remained at 'seas less than 1 foot'.

Yea... we were in a 23' Shearwater. Took em like a champ, but got a lil wet coming in against the wind.

Everybody always says we are stupid for taking a bayboat out there, but it does fine every time. If I put the trim tabs down, it cuts straight through the waves. I can still run 30+ mph comfortably.

I'll take my 20 foot boat out 20 miles and my passengers are all puckered up. But the weather we had on Saturday was not what I would go out in.

Sounds like you had a good trip. We will be heading out next friday to try to catch some cobia and AJ's. Not sure. Any recommendations would be appreciated. About how far from South Pass did yall go out to catch your AJ?

We ran about about 15 miles southeast of south pass. The water was about 650 ft deep if I remember right. Fish were about 250-300 ft down. Bring plenty of terminal tackle, we lost a bunch(I'm actually tying new leaders as we speak). Weatherman was wrong on our forcast, called for one ft or less, we rocked all day in the boat.
