CAPTAIN PAUL
PASS A LOUTER WMA ~ CARDO PASSS CAMP SITE
To: bverdin
I double checked all of the positions and I believe that my stated positions are correct.
The LDWF positions are stated in DECIMAL DEGREES (DDD.ddddd) and were made using NAD 83 Datum.
In converting these positions to a more familiar format of Degrees, Minutes and thousandths of a minute (DDD, MM.mmm) and using WGS 84 Datum I believe that they are as stated.
May I ask how you plotted the positions, on what map or chart and what datum did you use?
I use professional programs that includes Marine Charts, Topographical Maps in 1:100,000 and 1:24000 scale and ORTHO (corrected for the proper datum) high altitude aerial photographs.
I am going to try and attachι a photo of the campsite that was obtained using the ortho aerial photographs. The map photo created (taken) on May 10, 2010, shows that the site was recorded at a position on the left bank of Cardo Pass just in from the water on or by a high spot that appears to be a levee that helps impound two large fresh water ponds.
Both the LDWF and by plots coincide for the camp sites and the Head Quarters site.

I used WWW.itouchmap.com/latlong.html. You can plot using the points the LDWF provided and the points you provided at the same time.
My PC died so I didn't have a chance to call. However, I believe the site I was using to plot the points was in a different format. I was using your points (HQ N29 degrees.07.0734 W89 degrees12.4584) when the site required that this be 29 degrees 7' 4.4034 and 89 degrees 12' 27.5034. Thanks for all the help. I'm new to this GPS stuff. Just trying to have my plans in order for a hog hunting trip in March. I'm a native of Louisiana, but a non-resident that live in Indiana. Thanks so much for your time!!!!!
I did a comparison to what the LDWF provided and your conversion coords and the points appear to be off by a good amount. Do you know why that would be? I'm trying to attach a picture for you to see. The middle and right blue points are for Cadro Pass Campground. The middle one is the LDWF points and the one to the right is yours (looks like that point might be in the water).
