I hunt in Greensburg also, have for the past 9 years. Take a look at the conditions you are planting in. Have you done a soil test to check your PH first. If you want the plot to not only grow, but be appealing to the deer you may have to add a bunch of lime. Next, take a look at area you are planning to plant, does it get enough sunlight. I plant one field that is close to a half acre and put 1,000 lbs of lime a few years ago and add a couple hundred pounds every year to maintain it. I plant that field with wheat, then cover the seeds and top dress it with a mixture of crimson and white clover. On my shooting lanes which are narrow and don't get as much sunlight I use Rye grass, seems to do better in low light situations. The deer seem to like the wheat more, but will settle Rye grass if available. I try and use 6-24-24 fertilizer when available and don't forget to inoculate the clover if it isn't pre-inoculated. I like using clover because it produces nitrogen and that's beneficial to the growth of your grass and the deer love it. Also, the white clover was still on my fields when I turned them last weekend to plant, lasted through the whole summer.
I be done use watermelon seeds and it work for me.
Dont waste ur money on dem seedless melons cuz they dont come to dem. I eat all i can and feed dem deer the rest when my belly get full
