Tuff, the restricted area you saw is where they moor the houseboats, the camp ground and the Game warden's check in station. The Big Island is right adjacent to that area slightly to the north. You can access the island by an area called the cul-de-sac. It has a deep water channel and you will have no problem getting in there to scout or hunt. Remember that it is closed for the month of October for youth hunts. The perimeter islands are open from Oct 1 thru Jan 31 for deer and hogs and then hogs only from Feb 1 through the middle of March. The small islands are difficult to get to due to shallow water and tides. A surface drive is the best suited boat to use for those islands. If you need more info, shoot me an email and I would be happy to help you out.
tried to get out there last year but wasn't sure where anything was, only signs i saw were 'restricted area' not sure where the wma hunting area is and it is kind of hard to distinguish on the maps, i rode all the way down from baldwin to the bay and around a couple of islands that are hard to get to cause of the shallow water, is that where i was supposed to be to be able to hunt the wma
