I hunt around Greensburg close to the Mississippi line and i would like to know what type of food plots you are planting that are successful around that area.
Our lease is two miles North of Greensburg - typical pine plantation. I plant an acre and a quarter with 50 lbs winter wheat, 50 lbs oats (the cheap kind - around $18 for a 50 lb. bag), two pounds of white clover (Louisiana S-1) and three pounds of Crimson Clover, and get excellent cover. For about an acre, two 50 lb bags of 6-24-24 fertilizer will do to get it started, with another bag or two top dressed three weeks after planting. If your pH has not been brought up to something around 6.5 or higher you might want to add a little more wheat. But you would probably be better off hitting it with some lime instead of more seed.
