I've only fished salt water 2 times, just so happens dularge was one. I found it very easy to fish with a map. put in at the public ramp at the end of the road. Then just follow ur map channel and the bayou for about 7-10 miles to last island. fish for reds in the passes and trout in the surf. We also caught some nice trout on a pipeline point on the west side of the first big bay u cross. They have a full service store and had a bait boat before. good luck.
Get on Hwy. 315 out of Houma to the end of the paved road at jugheads boat landing. After you put in head south to the pass between Lake Mechant and Sister lake, check where the birds are feeding and give it a try. Should be crowded as all get out with the boat landings to the east shut down. Also you can go to dularge.com and read up on the fishing reports, GOOD LUCK it should be a boat show.

This is hard to do without looking at a map with you and unless the map was made yesterday it ain't that good. The above advise is about the best, launch at Jug's and start with Sister Lake and Lake Mechant. Don't know if you'll find birds right now and if you do it's probably catfish but, always worth a try. You should have no problem at all finding redfish though if you fish the lake shores and surrounding marsh.

Fishingal, No place better than fishing the marsh in Dularge right now. Launch your boat at end of Hwy 315 at Jugs. Head south down Bayou Dularge a few miles and turn left at the first bayou (between the 2 tall telephone poles). Continue straight and turn left crossing the small bay. There will be a pipeline canal on your right when traveling across the bay in which you will turn right into the pipeline canal. Continue down the canal until you reach the first body of water (Bay Long). Plenty of reds in Bay Long along the banks and there are lots of points and cuts to fish with a small boat. You're only looking at about a 15 minute boat ride from Jugs launch. Good luck.
Dularge is fairly easy to learn despite what some people think. As they said above, chasing the birds may pay off but i would try to fish cuts and ponds around Mechant and Sister Lake.
On the way out to the Grand Pass, (Grand Pass is between sister lake and lake mechant) about 8-10 minutes after you launch, you will see a small canal on the left side. There will be telephone poles at the mouth of it. That is Jones Bayou. Would be worth your time to check that out. You will pick up a few reds in there if your patient enough. Shrimp under a cork or artificial with no cork will do just fine. I usually use the trolling motor to get in, and start throwing against the banks. Then i drop anchor at the first pond that comes up on your right. Goodluck and hope this helps. PLease post a report after your trip
Sorry for the delay....We did go out last Saturday. Fished the first bayous on the left by the power lines. Ended the day with 8 reds and a drum. Caught plenty of fish but lots were too small. Threw back a lot of drums as I only like to keep what we will eat in a few days. Had a nice trout too but it managed to flip out of my hand and go over board.
Didnt take any pics, lol, was too busy fishing.
THANK YOU again for all of you who were willing to share your advice.
Glad you decided to try jones bayou out. Never caught many specs in there but the reds are alwaysss in there if you can be patient and fish the cuts. Right bait is a key. I did forget to mention the amount of drum in there. Most people are not exactly happy about that besides myself. Next time you go, cracked crab on the bottom of the grand pass is a gurantee of large bull reds, drum, and shark.
geez guys?
no help for the lady?? i dont know the area but there must be someone here who can suggest some spots for her to try
