well can't be that accurate, but i saw about a dozen dead bass floating and saw about a dozen bass still swimming near the surface when looking into the bayou so i was estimating. None were floating in the current and most of those were trapped within lilies and branches I set as fishing structure so they died from that spot and not further upstream I'd imagine. Though my scientific calculations could be wrong and only 49.9% may be dead, lol!
I took a good look today around the Amite and tickfaw river . Lots of small bass and bream all floating on the edge in the grass . But not the massive kills like for Katrina . The dead fish for Katrina were so thick , it was like carpet across the river . I think Katrina killed every fish in the river . Looks as if that's all the fish that will die this time we will be in good shape .
I hope it's not all the fish ! Lol there were some shad also that I noticed but the fish were like 2-3 inch bream , 6-8 inch bass and a few big shad 8 ' ? I've caught nice stringers of big sacalait and have seen some nice stringers of bass . So it seems the smaller fish took the blunt of the kill . The bigger fish may die off later ... Idk but hope not .
I didn't see any fish bobbing for air either so hopefully that's a good thing .
Drewb irregardless is not a word ... I'm sure you know that . Was that a trap of some sort ?? Or did I finally catch the king of grammar slipping ?
we had a large fish kill on the tangi river for katrina. i my opinion it has never been the same
