'People need to get it through their thick heads that building houses, camps, roads and structures outside of the Federal Flood Protection System (FFPS) will only be temporary until the next storm.'
I think most people who build camps outside of the FFPS understand that this is a risk and that they are willing to take it to enjoy our paradise. Your tone is a bit condescending. My head is not thick--I completely understand the risks involved.
Yep, no one should live in these areas. I guess you live in a 100 percent disaster free area? You are obviously much smarter than me. It flodded in Braithwaite, Laplace, Madisinville, Slidell, now Kentwood and other areas along the Tangipahoa River are threatened No one should live in any of these places?
Immediate evacuation ordered for KENTWOOD and below. I guess there FFPS is failing??
There's flooding and threat of flooding into central LA. I guess no one should live from Alexandria south?
Fires in Colorado, guess no one should live there either? Tornados in Kansas and earthquakes in California....
Please let me know where I can move to be completely safe?
Theres nothing wrong with building houses and living on outside the levees . Just when there's a tropical storm , or a cat 5 hurricane on the way , get all the chickens , hogs , and dogs in a truck and get out of there ! There's nothing the government can do to stop a 30 or 40 ft surge of water from coming on shore . What are you going to protect when the water could possibly be over your roof ??
All that does is put other people in danger trying to rescue people who stayed with their houses . Nobody is use to hurricanes coming up from our southwest or taking direct hits . It's hard to prepare for something like these when we normally only get grazed by them .
Don't try to be a hero and defend your house against a 30 ft wall of water ! Do yourself and others a favor and get the heck out ! When the water goes down , go back and rebuild if you want .Just my opinion ...
And your tax dollars went to rescue these knuckle heads!!!! Glad they are safe, but they should have to pay for their rescue!
