It's not going to hurt anything. Just try and protect the plugs (power plugs) and keep them out of direct rain. If they get too wet, it will just pop a breaker. Good luck!!

Water and electricity dont mix to well i would think

At my camp I put a 4x8 sheet of plywood over the generator. However there isn't usually rain coming in sideways. I would not let it rain on my generator. I may work, but it won't work long. Keep it dry. Change the oil if you run it 3 or more days.

Got one that been on de boat for 5 years now in the wide open. Never had a problem with it. Most generators have rubber isolators for mounts that'll stop the flow of electricity if the breaker failed but I still ground the frame.
