Bass Fishing in Toledo Bend in Central Louisiana
Toledo Bend
Good numbers of small fish being caught but the larger fish are harder to come by(5lbs and up). A number of patterns are working as the lake continues to get closer to the end of summer. I've been mainly fishing patroon creek, 1215, martinez and a few humps and ledges around the bridge. Shallow fish in 1 to 2 ft of water along grass edges are being caught on buzz baits, spinner baits, top water frogs, and shallow diving crank baits ticking the grass. The best grass I've found that will hold fish is 6ft and less that has a good sharp edge. Main lake points, creek drops and river channel shelf and ledges are also holding fish. They're right on the break lines that start in 8 to 12 ft of water. position your boat in 20 to 30 ft of water and cast to that 8 to 12ft zone I've been throwing lots of deeper diving Crank baits in sexy shad color and football jigs in black and blue. This incoming tropical storm should really turn on the fish at the bend. I'll be guiding all weekend up there. You guys stay safe on the water!
