I had the fortune of a guided boat tour last weekend of the Madisonville Rice Field Canals in St Tammany Parrish. Brackish Marshes located between the Tchefuncte River and a stones throw from Lake Pontchartrain. There were folks fishing and others were preparing their duck blinds and marshes for the upcoming duck hunting season. The area waterfowl was plentiful and canals were trimmed with lots of duck weed and natural grasses. Our company has the fortune of selling 52 Acres, only accessible by boat, surrounded by former rice field levees. Nice camping, fishing and hunting spot. There is one levee that is accessible by foot to the southernmost edge of the property from Guste Island Road.
