i suppose if it didnt work they wouldnt still be doing it but why in the world would anyone ever buy a boat they didnt get a chance in person to see it float without taking on water, start and run well with no problems and drive it?
at the very least even if it doesnt run you see it in person or you dont buy it, that should be basic common sense isnt it?
i know exactly what you mean. in the ads they say they will send it to you and you have 15 days to check it out and if anything is not right with it or they will take it back. supposedly when you pay the third party holds the money until you confirm that the product has been received and okayd by you. which is kind of true. but when you make your payment on the website it makes you log in again and its a fake page where they get all of your information and go in after a few days and confirm that you are satisfied. so you cant get your money back. its a sick world
Thanks Tony, it's such a difficult job to stay ahead of the scumbags that have nothing better to do than sit around all day figuring out ways to scam folks out of hard earned-money!
The free classifieds are a great service to Louisiana's sportsmen and I have successfully used them to both buy and sell items.
That being said, readers need to be reminded to always use caution and common sense. If something seems too good to be true--IT PROBABLY IS!
Scammers know ALL the tricks. Don't deal out of state, don't deal with someone with no telephone number, don't deal with someone not willing to do an in person transaction, NEVER wire money, deal only in CASH, don't trust cashier's checks, personal checks, etc.-these items can easily be fakes.
Don't fall for someone offering to pay you full price for your item by sending you a check and they say will pick up the item from you at a later date.If you revceive a check for more than the deal--don't deposit it and refund the difference--IT's a scam.
Don't be tempted by the great deal or some aleged factor that suggests you need to act fast or miss the deal. That's what they want you to do- act on emotion and not on common sense! It's a scam.
There are plenty of good deals and lots of legitimate buyers and sellers. Just be cautious.
If a deal smells fishy in any way-it's probably a fish!
Seems like every other ad (boat ad) is a scam. They are so easy to pick out and if someone is dumb enough to fall for them, they really need help!!
