Inshore Fishing in Delacroix Island in Southeast Louisiana
TUFF FISHING IN DELACROIX
Fishing in the Delacroix area has gotten tuff since my last good trip on the 13th.The 14th was a bad trip and i have gone scouting the last two days burning alot of gas and time without much luck.I did find a spot on the inside with plenty of white trout. The West wind in the delacroix area has the tide messed up and the water messed up.The water looked a little better yesterday.i have one more area to check out and i hope they are there.
People always want to know 'the spot' where you catch fish.Well just because you caught them there today or an hour ago does not mean you are going to catch them there when you get there.Plus if you post 'the spot'you will have every Tom,Dick and Harry there spooking the fish off and no one catches. The more boats fishing a spot usually the less fish are caught.Just like my trip on the 13th we killed them. Then on the 14th not a fish caught. If i told you to go there on the 14th you would have said i was lying.Fish bite differently on a day to day and hour to hour basis. What worked today might not work tomorrow or the next hour.Wind and tide play a major role on how and where the fish bite.Depending on these two factors you may have to anchor your boat differenty to fish and cast in the same spot.Sometimes just the direction you present the bait in makes a difference in how the fish bite.So many factors go into catching fish that you can't just say go to Spot 'a'and you will catch fish, sometimes it is just not that simple. You could be 20-50ft away from them and not catch a fish.Last week i just let out 20-30 ft more anchor line and then started loading the boat with fish, you just never know. You just have to experiment around.Sometimes when the fishing is slow i just fish the opposite of what i am doing,if on the bottom,i go to the top, change your speed of presentation, type of presentation, change what ever is not working ,even if it does not make any sense. One day the trout were staged about 50yards away from a very popular spot, why, who knows but we finished off the limit there.
Well enough rambling about fishing,i need to find them again.
