It was nice to have Shane Hinds and his two sons, John Wyatt and Bode on board again. Their last trip down to the DU produced 100 fat trout and 1 lost black drum. With the trout bite being a little hit or miss right now, we decided to change it up a bit and put the boys on some reds! With building showers across the coast, this was the best option once we got on the water. The boys didn't know it, but their dad had surprised them with two brand new Shimano combos to break in and boy did they do just that! Our first and only stop was red hot for most of the morning. We had reds and black drum coming in on every few cast. We put in a few hours of fishing, filling the box up with reds and drum, until the incoming tide and bite came to a hault. With the action we were experiencing decreasing to a fish here and there, John Wyatt and Bode decided we'd head in for a big burger from Tommy's Stop-N-Go. Good idea as the rain started coming down shortly after getting to the dock. These guys always bring the heat down with them. All fish caught on cracked crabs rigged on a 3/4 oz. Carolina rig.
