caught this in my ditch yesterday in louisiana LOL
yep lordbud i for sure I am waiting for the bashers, but speak my mind anyway, as i feel i speak for the thousands of viewers who are afraid to post. I am not attacking anyone nor trying to cause trouble, simply stating how i feel about it. we no longer have our rental boat buisness because of insurance purposes, but i posted good info back then and still now sometimes under my other acount cajun coon or my father will post under speckle searcher. we havent been out much because of rain and lightning in our area every weekend latly but we will continue to post.
When I'd go out and I used to post up i'd tell where, how, why, what color, what speed, what depth, etc. ONLY thing I would ask is that if you came out and saw me out there please respect the 'casting distance' rule. There was another site I was regularly post at but it seemed that the bragging started over there too. I thought these sites were originally to help other fisherman out. Similar to a fishing network. Now things have went so commercial on ALL the sites around that there not even worth reading much anymore. The icing on the cake was where I read somewhere that a guy was catching regularly. Few people asked him where he was catching. He responded 'I burned my gas and time to find the spot. Why should I tell you?' (or something along those lines). Whats the point of posting if you're just doing it to brag? Its people like that who make me want to find their spot and come post up the GPS coordinates and a pic of their spot. :)
yep i agree, and i dont mind the braggin if it has a purpose. again guys dont take it in the wrong way now, we are saying a genral direction, not the exact location. this kind of info will most certainly help people because it will give people an idea of where the fish are for that particular time of the month. The whole reason i started buying the sportsman mag, years ago and still is to gain knowledge of some other areas, and to learn new tips. but lordbud remember all the silent viewers and keep posting. just look at the most viewed comments there literly thousands of viewers.
I don't post on here mainly because of that. Not that I try to keep my spots secret, but I generally start cursing up a storm when 'out of towners' see me trolling down bayou blue, and come drop their trolling motor or anchor right in front of me when I catch, or, as gaspard probably knows, bay canard Gris when someone gets in between you and the trout and anchors out. Stuff like that gets to me. Want my help, ask. But be respectful. There's a reason why locals don't like out of towners, and that's when people like that screw up your fishing. Or when I'm trying to launch my 16ft flat and there's a 22ft blazer in the middle of the slip in your way that no one wants to move so you can launch 'because they were there first'. Launch etiquette, your boats in the water, move it for someone else to launch. And if you're launching at the golden meadow public launch, don't take up the WHOLE middle, then load up your boat, then put it in the water. And just to make this post helpful, right across catfish lake to the west ish, there's a cut right across te canal from a camp, anchor out, if the waters running, flounder specs and reds all day. Clear water = tsunami or clear ish pink swim bait, dark muddy water = avacado or LSU.
giving specific spots is just asking for mass confusion and bad times all around when 6 boats are trying to fish a reported spot that only has room for 3 or 4 boats so nobody catches or you have non stop traffic from looky-loos seeing what all the boats are doing there.
i think all that is needed is general pattern info such as on the outside edges of the marsh or outer islands or inner canals is good enough to duplicate the pattern your using without coming close to giving away your secret spots.
same goes for technic, basic things someone needs to know to duplicate the equipt and style your using without giving away your secrets.
the same pattern info that works in the DU will most likely work and be helpfull to those fishing houma or grand isle or morgan city but if the general pattern info is missing then the helpfullness of the post is also missing as you arent sharing usefull info to help others.
charter capt work hard for the info they have and they are trying to make a living so i understand they are reluctant to share such info but there is always general info most dont mind sharing and i think thats all we would ask and hope that they would be willing to add to the posts they make.
i think its also very important for those reading the reports to properly thank those who do provide the basic info that helps others learn patterns and what might work in the areas they fish.
i thought the same thing when i see that.
please guys if you are going to posts lets get the basic info to go along with it such as:
1 area where you were fishing and time of day should be listed
2 the bait you were using and color if artificial was used should be listed
3 weather and water clarity and conditions would be very helpfull too if you could mention it
as gaspard said, none of this need give away your secret spot or technic unless you feel like sharing that as well
